We have not won a title since 2007 and we're okay with that?
not OK with that. But UF, Auburn, Bama, FSU, and OSU. Those are the only teams that have won one since then. we play three of those every season. And 3 of those teams were coached by the best two coaches in the country.
All those teams still could line up and run the ball.

It's your typical rock-paper-scissors deal. Starting in the late 90s, college defenses became a lot more aggressive with run blitzes and 8 man fronts (Joe Lee Dunn etc) and this caused problems for traditional two back sets. However, it opened up opportunities for early spread adapters like Mumme, Leach, and Mangino. As the spread became more popular, more defenses switched to a base 4-2-5 with linebackers selected for speed, not size. Naturally, against those defenses, two back sets will have more success.

I've said the same thing a million times. That shits hard to watch. Arena ball outside, get one or two stops you win the game. Garbage will hopefully cycle around for the good of the College game

Name me a successful team in the NFL that doesn't have their QB line up under center. They're not spread teams. The "spreadiest" (It's a word) two teams are the Redskins(RG3) and Carolina. And Carolina is severely overrated. Neutralize the talent against the spread which is what it relies on and you shut it down.
Pro Style is way more complex but it's extremely difficult to decipher on the defense. Just look at the efficiency in 2013. That was a true pro style offense run perfectly. Also MSU2015 is solid. They also have a veteran QB.
To me, three yards and a cloud of dust is exciting. Even a team like Ole Miss with a flashy offense last year played three yards and a cloud of dust with LSU. Real football. Not track races. Texas Tech v. TCU, I watched wide receivers just stand in the middle of the field with no DB even on the screen. That's not football.
OregonLSU2011
OSUOregon2014
LSUOSU2007
BamaTexas2009
Power wins.

The problem with the spread is it can be beaten easily by a good defense

What you don't seem to understand is that "spread" is classified as a multitude of different offenses. If you don't think Peyton and Brady run "spread" offenses you're blind.
You realize Ohio State runs a spread offense?

If LSU ran a high tempo offense and was winning, no one would say it wasn't real football.

The TCU-Texas Tech game was awful.
Speak for yourself, I thought it was fun. That may be moreso because I like a lot of the players on both teams, but I also like all the different styles of college football. If they are ran by a good team with a person i want to see, it makes for a good watch for me.
Even though we lost, that 44-41 game against UGA in 2013, that was my favorite that year. Loved the shootout we had with Ole Miss back in 2010 as well.
I just wish we could hurry things up a bit at times and add in somewhere around 25-28 passing on average for balance. We are 7th last in plays per game, and that's not just because we are averaging over 6.7 yards per play. We averaged 6.9 yards per play in 2013, and still ran 4 more plays on average.

They run mostly shotgun single back sets with a tight end or 2.. Thats the basis of the spread but they dont use the read option out of that set, which is what most people associate with the spread. The wording is just semantics on the implementation.

It is useful since many idiots on this board always like to say that LSU runs an antiquated offense that no one else is running any more.
I never had an issue with a power running game or the I formation. My issue was always with the lack of creativity in the running game. It was the same blocking schemes, same backfield action, predictable down & distance play selection over & over again. The "wow" factor was the fact we went RBC with no dropoff in talent. We started to see a few wrinkles last year but this season the running game is as unpredictable as it is explosive. IMO, there are two reasons(LF07 notwithstanding):
1. Noticeable upgrade in OL talent.
2. Significant upgrade at OL coach.
I'm not going to play a chicken or egg game with those two. What is evident is Stud's departure has significantly improved the running game.

I'm glad we run it.
try to watch that crap football last nite - Miami and cincinatti; same texas tech and ok state stuff. I can't take much of it. it's just not real football.
I don't mind the option where the qb is a runner;
power running is real football. a commentator commented that 5 of the top 10 teams are still running the pro set. I know the fans at bama wish they were still running power football.
sure, the triple wide out set is OK to run to change things up, out of the shotgun, but I hate the 4 wide receiver set without a fullback OR tight end.
Tennessee's running that crap. I can't stand it. and they are a traditionally power football team
I for one am glad miles hasn't tried to switch. thanks, Coach.
The only thing that matters is the effectiveness of the scheme all things considered (impact on defense, etc.)
You wanting to see a pro-set for the sake of style is just as bad as the guys who get tingles watching because of the fast pace of the spread.

LSU plays grown arse man football. I love the physical domination we display every week, it is glorious! I would never change it for some stupid girly man offense.

Nice. Don't use the space, don't use the speed, don't use the athleticism LSU is gifted with all because we don't want to portray an effeminate offensive style.
I bet you strip a lot of screws, and stick square pegs in round holes.

I wish our offense was just a little more brains and a little less braun.

I thought "real football" was trying to advance the ball to the opponents end zone and score more points than the opponent. By whatever means work best based on the talent on the roster.
If you want to get all manly, why not just declare that real football players wear leather helmets.
By your logic, are you suggesting that Joe Montana, John Elway, Dan Marino, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, etc. aren't real football players???
