I'm glad we run it.

try to watch that crap football last nite - Miami and cincinatti; same texas tech and ok state stuff. I can't take much of it. it's just not real football.

I don't mind the option where the qb is a runner;

power running is real football. a commentator commented that 5 of the top 10 teams are still running the pro set. I know the fans at bama wish they were still running power football.

sure, the triple wide out set is OK to run to change things up, out of the shotgun, but I hate the 4 wide receiver set without a fullback OR tight end.

Tennessee's running that crap. I can't stand it. and they are a traditionally power football team

I for one am glad miles hasn't tried to switch. thanks, Coach.

It's real football but it's shitty to watch. The TCU-Texas Tech game was awful.

Multi wide spread sets are what allow teams that dont have as much depth and recruiting base to be so successful.. In the old days it was the option/veer set that allowed schools the same success.

Pro sets are designed to control the game on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. They require more talent up front on both sides which is where many schools fall short.

There were a lot of points scored but it still came down to the last play of the game. The end of the game was actually quite exciting that any football fan should enjoy watching.

So just as many in the Top 10 aren't running it? Useful stat.

It is useful since many idiots on this board always like to say that LSU runs an antiquated offense that no one else is running any more.

Those people are wrong as usual.

The problem with the spread is it can be beaten easily by a good defense. The spread is so successful because it's so simple. But once you shut it down it's too easy to figure out. Beat the spread with a front four that can stop the run and create a pass rush and have cornerbacks that can play press man coverage.

Jam the receivers off the route and create little separation. Make them beat you. Hopefully you can put more people in the box to either stop the run or blitz the QB.

Pro Style is coming back. There's a reason the NFL never stayed with the spread.

Our offense is more power running. Simply because of the talent. We're averaging 300 on the ground. That's ridiculous. Like up and stop it. And if you do we have the ability to pass.

And if turns out we "can't" pass we'll just run the whole game minus one PA pass on the last play of the drive. (I. E. Ole Miss 2014)

No the argument about our offense is that we can control the game against certain opponents but what happens when we run into a front 7 that will give us problems such as bama and ole piss this year. We have not won a title since 2007 and we're okay with that?

And to your point of it not being real football? 3 yards and a cloud of dust then a punt is fun to watch? Yea when we have a guy like LF breaking 60 yard runs its a thing of beauty but what about the second half of moo state when we were run-run-pass-punt, and it nearly cost us the game, was that real football, and fun to watch?

When he goes to another championship playing AAA NFL football in college every recruit in the SE and Texas should line up and hope for that offer.

the negatigers, so called, have never been upset that we run the ball. they have been upset when we mindlessly keep running into a stacked box.

that is changing. we are more creative with our run game.

the "new" air raid attacks are dink and dunks, with small backs making decent runs every now and again when they fake the pass.

I'm shocked that someone hasn't called me a dumbass by pointing out that we run out of the I, and a real proset is not an I. but thankfully everyone really knew what I meant. fullback and tailback and a tight end.

Pro set takes better talent to run effectively.

The spread offenses of today are designed to maximizes the talent of a few playmakers. The QB dumps the ball quickly to his man in space.

If executed correctly it doesn't rely upon excellent lineman.

Pro set teams need excellent lineman to be dominant at the point of attack. Instead of relying on dink and dunk they can grind out yards more efficiently in a method that creates less chance for turn overs.

Plenty of nfl teams run spread offenses and incorporate power running

It isn't an either/or, there can be a balance
