Plenty of teams could easily be 8-4. Plenty of teams only win games by a td or less. That is the sign of a good team. That is what separates winning and losing.

I think you should revisit some of the Daniels VS Pennix Heisman threads before calling him out. He is more right than you. That Washington team last season MAYBE breaks .500 in the SEC. Look at the defenses they played ands the fact they played in a TERRIBLE pac12.
I’m not saying he won’t be successful. I’m saying he hasn’t proven why he should be ranked in the top 3. The teams you’re competing against week in and week out matter.

So he won a bunch of games against teams that had more talent than him?

This actually got me a little curious, so I looked up the recruiting rankings (On3 Industry).

It's a really small sample size since he was hired in November of 2021 - more than halfway through the recruiting season. And I don't think you can give him too much fault for the class after he left.

I used a 4-year rolling average to give an idea of the "talent" that was on the team, but I didn't have the time or desire to account for attrition. All-in-all, I would say he both achieved more with less and recruited slightly below Washington's average. But how much of that can be attributed to going 8-5, 3-1, and 4-8 before he arrived?

Recency bias + they have very high winning % s.

Sure, but neither of them have won in the top 2 conferences in college football.

This year will tell a lot about both coaches. Maybe they are very good, but maybe they aren't

I think it was Norvell/ deboer. At worst he was the 2nd choice. I hate bama as much as anyone. That doesn't mean I get to make shite up about them.

And you don’t think Bama went through back channels to talk with Dabo, Kirby, Sark or Kiffin? Discussions could’ve happened and not been leaked.

There’s definitely a lot of prisoner of the moment choices on this list, like DeBoer and Lanning, at least when it comes to where they are ranked.

Dabo is insanely overrated on this list for what he is today- a coach who won’t change with the times.

Kiffin is also overrated being in the top 10 today. Unless OM proves something this season, his head coaching resume doesn’t warrant that. And when has he really risen to the challenge of expirations as a head coach? Remember all the hype for OM in 22 before they played us, and what happened after we exposed them?

Ryan Day is underrated. He’s not top 5 after recent struggles, but he has skins on the wall beating top teams and his program hasn’t fallen off the way Clemson has. Despite the recent losses to Michigan, OSU is still consistently one of the better and more talented teams in college football. He made a mistake with a DC hire and it cost him, but he’s clearly corrected it and they are back to a high level there. Putting him below Kiffin is pretty ridiculous.

Having made the BCS and Playoff but never having won a game, and still rebuilding at LSU, I think Kelly is rated pretty fairly here. The number of wins alone puts him in the top 10, and two 10 win seasons while in a major program transition here is impressive.

Norvell, CBK, and Day are all too low. Otherwise, it's pretty accurate.

Deboer may be the answer for the Gumps, but only time will tell. I think he loses a bit of the recruiting mojo in year two and beyond...

Norvell? Don’t you at least have to win a good league or make the CFP before you can be considered among the best?

He gets a lot of credit for cleaning up the mess Jimbo left and others made worse at FSU. And he was also a terrible injury away from being a lock for the playoff.

Ryan Day - again has a NC game appearance, has made multiple playoff appearances with multiple QB’s.
does not have a national championship game appearance. Took over a very healthy program and hasnt done anything with it. Is also intimidated by lou holtz.

He also bought his entire team out of the portal.

I guess spending money makes one a good coach now?

Good point. 90% of the Washington players weren’t recruited by DeButch

Man Draco your tune has changed a ton. You are now calling for Kelly to be fired and saying that he is a loser after you spent this entire thread sucking his dick.

"His act is up. Hopefully most of yall see through his BS now."

"Fire Kelly"

"It is when you have a loser as HC"
