Players commented on how much more they liked practice with Freeman. If you love practice, it ain't tough enough. The tougher team won in the second half today.

Making the players like practice is an interim coach move. Orgeron let the players have cookies at practice in 2016. Freeman better remember he’s not an interim head coach if he wants to stick around. Something Orgeron never remembered in the end.

All I know is that Brian Kelly does not go for it on 4th down, down by 4, from his own 15 yard line with 2:30 left and three time outs. That was a straight up in over your head, rookie coach mistake.

They’ve had a bad couple of days & may get worse.

Underdog UC was crushed.

Darling Meeeechigan was curb stomped.

Beloved ND blew a winnable game with their brilliant new HC.

tOSU is down big early to little Utah.

On top of a massive collapse in the second half (first time in ND history they lose after being up 21), he doesn’t punt on 4th and 7 inside his own 20, down six with 2:46 to play and three time outs. Horrible game management

Coan threw the ball 68 times

No wonder BK wouldn’t give full control to Rees. Jesus Christ.

That collapse was harsh

At least it was only 28-7. Imagine if it had been 28-3. That would truly be embarrassing.

He got outcoached today.

He definitely did and the moment was too big for him. However, the good thing for ND and for him is that he has an off-season to learn from it. I think he could still be a very good head coach, but he still has a lot of learning on the fly left to do.

The media looks stupid for lauding him over Kelly before this game. They might look just as stupid if they write him off after this. I still think Kelly is far better and I’ll take his experience level any day, but I wouldn’t count Freeman out yet.

Im not sure why so many of you think that was a bad decision. They were down 6 and there were less than 3 minutes left. And…they had given up 600 yards to oklahoma st. So you would be banking on your defense getting a 3 and out (unlikely) all so you could get the ball back in the same spot with less time

Lesson learned today for Coach Freeman going against veteran Mike Gundy. Still think he’ll be a good coach long term for the Irish.

Freeman will be a disaster hire. A newbie in a job that big is recipe for disaster.

Disaster number 2 will be Venable’s at UO.

He really did which kind of surprised me. Every interview I have seen with him and listened to him I came away thinking this guy is ready to be a HC and should succeed. Maybe it was just the fact that it was his very first game of being the man but did have a lost look at times.

Maybe, but when your first HC job is ND that screams panic hire not best hire.

Yep, just two lowly southern schools with no appeal to the media hubs in Chicago, LA, NY, and Philly.*

* That’s a BS narrative, btw. They will say a game like this has only regional appeal, but most actual fans (regardless of location) just want to see the best two teams play. At least the fans I know.

Sidebar: I really enjoyed watching UM get taken apart after all the chatter about them matching up so well against SEC schools. Riiiiight.

Reminded me a lot of Aaron Kromer when Payton was suspended for a year.
