A bit of a long story but pretty cool.

I talked to a guy in Baton Rouge who owns car shop and has been dealing with LSU people for many years now. He told me a few stories that I found pretty cool. Whenever the wives of assistant coaches came in he would ask them about the program. He said they told him when saban was at LSU no coach was allowed to leave the facility until Nick did. Also Nick tried to return to LSU after the NFL job. LSU told him no because every assistant coach said if Nick came back, they would leave because they wanted to work for Les.

When Les was hired one of the coaches was still at the facility at around 7:00 pm. Les asked him if he was a family man. When he said yes, Les asked why he was still there. He told him under saban they weren't allowed to leave until the HC did. Les told him to go home and take care of his family. Work could wait till tomorrow.

Also with regards to Patrick Peterson, he said Pat was the finest young man from LSU he ever dealt with. And he definitely was never paid to play. He drove an old Toyota at one time and he brought it into the shop for repairs that totaled around 500$. Pat couldn't pay to get it out for awhile. Still he said Pat was respectful and a pleasure to deal with. Said Kelvin Sheppard was difficult however lol.

Seems as if though paying the price is working out for little Nicky.

shortly after going to FSU, Jimbo Fisher commented that he worked harder under Miles than he did under Saban

The general consensus is that Les is a joy to work for and a great family man.

All the coaches work hard

Yes, Nick has been known to work until 10 pm

but players commented that his car was the only one left ...which means the other coaches went home

so the story seems flawed...somewhere in the middle is the truth

Strict disciplinarian = 4 National Titles
Family Man = 1 National Title

Love Les' personality, just wish he would win more National titles...

If Nick would've come back, most of these assistants wouldn't have been here anyway.

I have never got the whole who is nicer yada, yada stuff. It is irrelevant. This is a production business. If you win enough, great...if not, see ya.

@ Saban being a disciplinarian.

Btw, he's also been incredibly lucky in all of his championship seasons. Don't forget that.

I'll agree that it was more difficult for Jimbo to call the game.

Explain to me how he's not then? All championships have some luck but in Saban's 3 at Bama only 1 came with an undefeated season. He's the greatest coach in the BCS era but that doesn't mean he's not lucky.

Not taking anything away from our championship seasons. But, every team that wins a Natl Champ has some luck throughout the season. If TigerDew things Bama has been extremely lucky in there championships, then ours were just as lucky or more, considering we had 1 and 2 losses.

2003 was the 1 the least lucky 1. And Saban was the coach. 3 teams tied with 1 loss, USC and us were 1 and 2 in both polls, but the BCS puts us and Oklahoma in it. We win the game and the Coaches poll, USC was #1 in AP Poll.

Then, LeSean McCoy has the game of his career vs WV in the last week of the regular season and that puts us in the Natl Champ.

Not taking anything away frmo those seasons, but to say that Bama was very lucky in 3 championships and we werent is just wrong. Every team has some luck when it comes to winning a Natl Champ.
