UCLA season was the Paul Mainieri era in a nutshell.

Anybody saying they would rather have LSU’s season has either never played ball or simply has the mentality of a giant LOSER.

Either way you’d be calling for both head coach’s heads so what’s it matter?

I mean the question is basically: would you rather have a historically bad season that is full of disappointment or have a really good season that ends in disappointment? I’m not sure why anyone would even consider the first option.

The actual question is:

Do you want to have no hope or have your dreams shattered.

I completely understand the rational answer is you want your team to have an incredible regular season and then get bounced.

At the same time, I would think about that UCLA season for the rest of my life. i'll never think about the what if's of 2026 LSU. I would prefer the LSU season for that reason.

People that say UCLAs season forget LSUs 2011 football season. LSU fans have literally never stopped complaining about it. And likely never will.

I mean if we are going to simplify the question as much as possible it’s: would you rather have a really good season or really bad season, both ending in basically the same result. Might be a crazy take, but I would rather my teams be good than bad.

I mean you could basically said that every team that is a top 8 seed that doesn’t make it to Omaha could have you thinking “what if”. Sucks, but it is what it is.

At the end of the day, I want my sports teams to be as good as possible and I just can’t imagine saying I would rather my team be worse than they are.

Neither. LSU is the Powerhouse of College Baseball. Tourney every year, Omaha 1 out of 3 years. 1 to 2 natties per decade. Win the SEC regular season title every 3 to 4 years.

Would you rather go undefeated against what at the time was not so arguably the greatest regular season resume of all time, winning the SEC, which included a win over the team that beat you for the national championship in the mulligan bowl, or would you rather have Brian Kelly/Frank Wilson’s last season?

4 of their last games they walked off to win Well, aside of getting bounced.

Dude. What are you even doing? Do you want burnt popcorn or scorched macaroni? You’re just throwing out words now.

There’s no good answer to this but our fanbase would melt beyond recognition if beaten at home as the #1 national seed by the #4 seed twice after leading both games.

Exactly.

I understand it's not the rational position, but it's not unreasonable for a fan to want to just blow for a year as opposed to dealing with a crushing end.

I’d rather a shot at a championship and lose than have no shot at all

Only a coward and loser would answer any other way.

Anyone who says they would rather have 2021 or 2025 over 2011 is either a dummy or a giant LOSER.

Disagree. UCLA was pretty much wire to wire #1. 2nd time ever (1st time was last year) a #1 seed didn't advance to the regional final.

Though I think the 2011 LSU team was better comparatively speaking, that was a vey good analogy by the poster above.

Of course. I think it also has alot to do with that specific team.

Like if this was football? i Would much rather an undefeated regular season and then a first round loss as opposed to going 5-7 or something. Now would I rather 13-0 and losing in the title, ala 2011, over 5-7? I don't know.

LSU isn't in a position where success is rare, so it's fair to have different prospectives here.

And yet you’d still want both coaches fired. Heck you want coaches fired mid season that end up winning championships.

Substantial difference between a top 8 seed and the best season in program history.

This is similar to 1989 Texas A&M but worse.
