I used to buy the SEC Preview magazines at the grocery store each August. Would have it read cover to cover in a few days

Me too. Athlon's every year in 80's and up to 90's.

Back in the 80's to mid 90's this was the only way, outside of the Advocate and the 5-minute sports segment on local news, to read about LSU sports.
TR was very good back in the Steve Meyers/Steve Townsend days. Not so much today. It reads like the Reveille sports section.

My dad bought me a subscription for years. Loved every issue of it!

The old States Item that came out everyday in the Afternoon that was Green had the best Sports. You had to get there early as the box would be empty.

Used to buy it at the K&B when it first came out until I finally subscribe to it when I moved to Monroe in 86.

I knew Steve, Hokie's sister, all of them at Tiger Rag back in the day.

shite, I worked for a radio station in Columbia, SC back in '92

I was on Two-Notch Road in Columbia just a few weeks back. I bet it hasn't changed a bit from 92.

Speaking of 92, I had to listen to the Championship on the Radio in Alexandria, LA with Hawthorne and loved every second of that broadcast.

Yes, I took it all of those years in the 80's/90's. I was in Bastrop and Baton Rouge then. Did not have websites then, all Tiger Rag and the Advocate/TimesPicayune. Loved it. Now, the Website isn't much.

I did. When you leave the state of LA after graduating in 81, and live in 9 states over 30+ years due to your career, Thursday evening after work was always special. Tiger Rag was in the mail! I would devour every word before hardly speaking to the wife and kids. Back in 80s/90s it was really your only source of LSU sports before the explosion of the internet.

Heck yeah. Growing up in Metairie I fondly remember riding my bike to the Time Saver to get current issues. I had a pretty cool collection of b&w centerfold pics of various Saints and LSU players on my wall. Those were the days.
