My only pet peeve with baseball that slows down the game is allowing the relief pitcher warm up pitches from the mound. He's already warmed up in the bullpen. Just play ball.

You realize its not just fans complaining about pace & duration of the game but also the TV outlets that televise CBB would also like the game to not last 4 1/2 Hours.

Yep. It needs to be reigned in a bit for both fans and tv providers. Id rather they tackle pace of play than adding the runner at 2nd in extras, but both will help immensely. I personally dont care if a game goes 4 hours, but im not most people

Stop f**king with the rules.
every sport tweaks their rules to make the game more entertaining.

Baseball, by its nature, is a very slow game. This needs to change, because the game is slowly dying.

Ive stopped watching baseball because it’s so damn slow, with little actual action. Many other sports fans feel the same.

Any rule change to increase offense and to speed up the game is fine with me. The purists wil scream, but they’re dinosaurs.

And before anyone calls me a teenager — i’m 58 years old.

Baseball doesn't have a clock. If you want to make then game faster then implement a little league style clock and limit games to 2.5 or 3.0 hour (or whatever is "enough time"). Otherwise, get over the fact that some baseball games can last a long time. If fans don't like it, go watch another sport. The pitching clock is dumb. If baseball were meant to have a clock, it would have a clock.

As for the props, I think they are all absurd and ridiculous...along with the over the top celebration of a solo HR in the 2nd inning of a game in early March. That said, if they players enjoy it, who cares what I think? If the opposing team doesn't like when LSU bumps a boombox after a HR or Tennessee runs out a fur coat, the keep them from hitting a HR.

I couldn't possibly agree with this more.

This is what makes no sense though. You throw this dumb arse pitch clock into play, and then add rules to it for "pace of play." Then you turn around and add more to replays.

The biggest change to pace would be the speed at which they do replays. Those five minute replays slow down the pace more than a pitch clock.

And I'd be willing to bet that those who use, "I'm not watching a 4 hour game" as an excuse, still wouldn't be watching many games that last 2 hours and 55 minutes.

I havent seen that as a big issue. Id prefer calls to be right. But they got much better at speeding them up in the sec tournament. They started having someone in the booth reviewing the calls and getting the call down to the field immediately

If they're concerned about pace of play then cut down on mound visits. A pitch clock is fricking stupid just scratch it.

It is a business predicated on as many people watching as possible. If you don't like it, well.

I can watch a replay and listen to the announcers state their opinions on a close call before the field umps even make it off the field to review. How much time could be saved if you put another ump in the booth with the replay system? He could confirm or overturn in seconds.

Nothing about baseball is ruined for baseball fans.

If my options to be able to watch every LSU baseball game on TV for 4 hours.

Or have to listen on the radio/follow on here for 90% of the games like it used to be, to make the games last only 3 hours. Give me 4 hours all day every day and twice on Sunday.

People who like to watch baseball, will watch baseball. People who like to complain, will complain. If the time of games decreases, they will find something else to complain about. That's the way the world works.

Where's the proof of that? College baseball was never a popular sport. I have a hard time believing that anybody can watch an SEC baseball game and say that their is a lack of interest in the sport. Outside of the SEC the support isn't there for most, but that's nothing new.

If some TV numbers go down or something, I don't buy that it's because not having a pitch clock is making the game too slow.

Entering Saturday’s Game 1 of the College World Series Final, the men’s College World Series was averaging 1.04 million viewers across the ESPN family of networks — up 17% from last year.

That includes an audience of 1.35 million for Mississippi-Arkansas on Wednesday, the largest for the men’s CWS prior to the Final since 2018 (Oregon State-Mississippi State: 1.57M).

Notably, last Sunday’s Notre Dame-Oklahoma game on ESPN2 averaged a higher rating (0.7) and more viewers (1.33M) than the competing White Sox-Astros Sunday Night Baseball game on ESPN (0.6, 1.08M).

Now compare that to softball over the last couple decades. And you are making my point for me with the mlb comparison. College baseball has a chance to get much bigger. Softball is getting as many viewers. Shorten the games a bit and more people will watch. Its still a very regional sport, and it has a chance to outgrow that some

The mlb showed us there is a cap to viewership when you dont do things to improve the game watching experience.
There are plenty of numbers to backup their decline in fan interest
