Oh no, he is here. In the "Skip is better AD than Alleva" thread, which I total agree with BTW.

I thought this was a given?? Anyone who thinks Alleva is a better AD than Skip needs to have their head examined.

Unless there is more here than we are hearing. There may not be any punishment. Can LSU be punished if this was simply Quarterman taking money from a agent unknown by LSU? This basically is like when a player signs with a agent early and is immediately ineligible. Unless they can show that LSU knew and still played him, I don't think they will do anything.

This is my question. LSU can do everything right--not make payments to its players, monitor boosters and alums to make sure that no payments go to players, etc.--yet someone unaffiliated with the university could offer money to a player and the result is that LSU is punished?

I suppose that the argument is that Quarterman became ineligible--unbeknownst to LSU--the minute that he received money from the agent, but the result is that LSU would be punished for the actions of a corrupt player.

Incidentally, if this is a punishable offense, what is to prevent a booster from, say, Kentucky or A&M from making payments to an LSU player, hence rendering that player ineligible and subjecting LSU to punishment?

This is why so many are asking the question today. Will these teams play these players that are still on their team tomorrow, now that they and everyone else knows? Doing so you risk a violation by knowingly playing a ineligible player.

What does Johnny Jones have to do with anything?

He didn't stalk his players 24/7 so he didn't find out about this.

The only thing I can say about coaches involvements would be a situation where a completely broke player suddenly starts showing up at practice in a new car and/or sporting a bunch of bling. The coach should look into things, but not sure how Jones is supposed to keep a player from talking to an agent on their own time.

Just curious. How is this different than Alabama football players buying cars and not having to repay the money for 4 or more years?

Or even worse, the entire DJ Fluker situation.

Guy published a mountain of evidence but to my knowledge nothing has ever been done about it.

what punishments do you think LSU could receive?

none. this was player driven in connection with outside individuals most likely without Admin knowledge. Sounds like sCam Newton precedent.

If found to be complicit LSU may have to vacate some losses...

Nothing should happen to LSU! They were not involved, they should go after the agent and Quarterman
