The reference is clear to anyone paying attention. Their traditional home jersey is navy with gray pants and red and white trim. The helmet has been powder blue and navy blue at various times. They have also worn red jerseys.
If you can’t see the association with the Confederate Flag and Battle Flag, then I don’t know what to tell you. Their stadium used to be full of them with Col Reb on the sidelines. I can remember this vividly from up until I started HS.
These colors were chosen when they were first implemented for a reason and the current Ole Myth admin has been doing everything possible to disassociate with that past.
