The reference is clear to anyone paying attention. Their traditional home jersey is navy with gray pants and red and white trim. The helmet has been powder blue and navy blue at various times. They have also worn red jerseys.
If you can’t see the association with the Confederate Flag and Battle Flag, then I don’t know what to tell you. Their stadium used to be full of them with Col Reb on the sidelines. I can remember this vividly from up until I started HS.
These colors were chosen when they were first implemented for a reason and the current Ole Myth admin has been doing everything possible to disassociate with that past.

I don't like the black and the tiger stripes, but there are pieces of this that are cool. Using the tiger alone on the helmet could work if done right, and "Louisiana State" on the jersey is cool, too. I don't think LSU plays with that "Old Gold" as much as they should.

The powder blue and RealTree work for them. I always thought OM was getting a larger check from the RealTree guy, but the company isn’t that big.
Also for those who want LSU out of Nike, they could be getting put in digital camo uniforms for a game like Adidas is making their schools do.
