The police are saying that they are not sure.

I think it is much more plausible that the victims were instigators and that players went way overboard in response.

the explosion in popularity of CFB goes against what you're describing. it's not fueled by passionate fans, it's fueled by bandwagon bitches

100% disagree. Too broad for just that. There are rabid fans of teams that don't win or challenge for championships. It's just a passionate phenomena associated with the raw grassroots fandom that is college athletics. It's just plain fun.

, then it sounds very much like the treatment Reginald Denny got in LA.
Reginald Denny was hit in the fricking face by a brick. the guys that did it did it for fun in the middle of a race riot.

this was a bar fight similar to every other bar fight. to bring up Reginald Denny is retarded unless you are just making sure everyone knows there was a vehicle involved. which everybody already knows.

I have nothing to do with the story. LSU Granddad basically said these guys probably just need some money to go away. If the beatings are as bad as described, I wouldn't trade my well being for a fricking dime. I brought up Reginald Denny as an example of that. You can't bring back his mental capacity with money. And before anybody makes the link to this situation, I'm not saying that anybody has lost mental capacity or suffered life altering injuries. The point is, I don't want to be beaten and then paid off. That's my view. If LSU Grand Dad wants it, he can have it.

There were a couple of unjust beatings that took place in 1991. You can look at the police opening fire on innocent citizens on the bridge in New Orleans a few years back. This has happened in this nation since its inception.

What does it have to do with last Thursday night?

Police also said that they believe the fight started after an individual, one of the four injured, blew his horn to move a crowd out of his way in the parking lot at Shady’s Bar.

Stone said police interviewed four people who were treated and released - three for minor injuries and a fourth for a more serious injury that could bring a felony charge of second-degree battery. Some witnesses also have talked to police, he said.

On Saturday, coach Les Miles apologized for the fight, saying a "relatively large group" was involved, and that the entire team had checked in at Thursday's 10:30 p.m. curfew. He said he won't punish specific players until details are collected and revealed.

I think people will be shocked this week, but they shouldn't be.
