re: PMAC Seating Capacity

With a substandard product and substandard schedule they drove the crowds down. Throw in moving the students, letting the press occupy top seats, and you have a major screw up.
Now the powers that be are telling us the gym is too big so they can take good seats and make more money because they sell the suites and even if no one comes the rake in more dollars.
I guess an arena that handles 7500 with 30 suites to sell up top adds up in dollars and cents so they are pushing that angle.
But reality is under Joe Alleva our two basketball programs have sunk to lows not seen since they opened the PMAC.
JMHO, but no way should Joe Alleva be in charge of the downsizing of the PMAC. Instead I'd let him downsize the Athletic Administration Building first and chop off the top two floors.

1.Move the students back to mid court.
2.Take out some of the nose bleed seats and add some suites up top
3.Bring back winning basketball.....PMAC will be fine.

When the students were at mid court, they did not show up.

The so-called "nose bleeds" are great seats compared to many venues. People will sit up there (witness gymnastics and when we were winning). Taking them out and adding suites won't add to the atmosphere, but it may add to the bottom line.

This times 10.

Only if Joe Alleva's third stab at a coach is successful. So far so good.
BTW, it's Joe Alleva who was in charge when the PMAC was reconfigured like it is now. The reporter thing IMHO, is a killer. The celebrity seats courtside is a killer. Put reporters courtside, pack the lower end with students instead.

The PMAC is just fine if you have a winning product on the floor.
I think LSU needs to figure out what it wants to do. If having the PMAC be an intimidating venue that provides a great gameday atmosphere, then all the program needs to do is become a consistent winner. Do that, then the PMAC will be back to the "Deaf Dome" days.
If Alleva wants to modernize or upgrade the facility, then why not just build a new arena like Ole Miss and Auburn? The PMAC doesn't really seemed to be structured for suites. It's a big round arena. I think adding suites probably wouldn't look all that great. Plus, it would sill look like the cookie-cutter 70's spaceship it is from the outside. If you are going to modernize, why do it half-assed? It would be like putting fake tits on a 60 year old woman.

We need to get the press out of the fricking bleachers first of all.

I think what most of you are missing is Will Wade knows the facility needs updating as a selling point and it's clear he made that known to Alleva that it was a must if he took the job. Same as some guy in football years ago did when it came to football facilities.
I 100% agree the facility needs an upgrade as well as timeout/halftime entertainment (on Wade's list).

So Alleva brought up that the PMAC is too big and should be condensed. I
It's not inherently too big, but it might not be a bad idea to take in some of the existing seating to build suites, if that's architecturally feasible.

Yep, he's undefeated!

That might be an altogether different level of expense.

I am no architect, so I don't know, but I would guess that there are some out there who could make it look good.

I like that about it. Retro is cool!

Here's a 73 year old woman with fake tits:

I don't think he wants to permanently remove seats, but when's the last time we filled that arena for a bball game?
Only just over a year ago.

That's bullshite, the two years of Mickey & Martin had the PMAC at over 75% capacity for the season
I'm sorry, but when has 75% ever equaled a sellout?

The PMAC is an eyesore and needs to be leveled. Quit putting lipstick on a pig.
Posted on 5/9/17 at 5:29 pm to jfturner212
Razing a perfectly good superstructure when finishes could be updated is retarded, even if you have a billion burning a hole in your pocket.
All structures look like pigs until you put some skin on them.

You and Alleva have not lived through '78-'92 when the PMAC was LOUD and INTIMIDATING ---
Of course, we had a better coach (current not being counted just yet) and much better players
The PMAC just needs to be modernized!!!

I agree the PMAC needs some updating and I believe we can fill the 13.2k seats with a good product. But in he meantime, let's try and at least fill 1 section before we sell the tickets in the uppers

The configuration of the PMAC sucks. It really needs a complete renovation.
Posted on 5/9/17 at 7:47 pm to gotiger
he's pretty much saying LSU is going to cut out seats for more premium seating
Posted on 5/9/17 at 7:55 pm to Nuts4LSU
Yep, he's undefeated, he's cutting deadwood, recruiting bodies and trying to sell the program.

I've said this before. The PMAC is a poured-in-place concrete structure. Concrete steps are where they are. The depth of the rows can't be adjusted. Somebody (architects?) please show me how this can be dealt with in a refurbishing. If it can be done, I'm all in.
