-It’s amazing how quickly things can change from looking to have a series win vs the number 5 team in the country.
-Labas had great stuff and command. Wish we had another run. Never a doubt in my mind to send him back out. But their leadoff got a solid hit. I got Fontenot up. The next batter was 0-2. Typically, Labas makes them chase but he got too much of the plate. Now they decide to bunt and AJ had command issues. So we let them bunt. Felt like AJ got tired. I thought Devin could get a strike out. First batter hits it well on first pitch. I think the wind fooled Dylan. Wasn’t a good route. Poor Dylan. Really a great RF. It wasn’t a routine play. If he catches the ball, the score but there’s 2 outs with Fontenot going against the 9 hole.
-Then they bring in the closer and we couldn’t do anything. We talk about it between games and try to put it behind you but that’s easier said than done.
-Game 2 down 2 immediately it takes the win out your sails. We lost our pitcher a few weeks ago and still trying to figure that out.
- You just have to take them one day at a time. Tomorrow off then ULM and get ready to play. We play another Thursday-Sat series. Just have to shake it off and get ready for another great ball club.

These two parts sum it all up...
One team has a 'closer' and the other doesn't.
One team gets clutch hits, the other rarely does.

South Carolina is ranked 5, 9, 9, 11, 12, 12
Paul goes with the clear outlier of #5 to soften the blow of his terrible coaching job

God!!!! I’m developing a true hatred for that fricker. I wish I could rise above it but I can’t.

As always, appreciate your notes.
Wished he would speak to why he thought he had to use Fontenot Thursday up 5 and why he thought he was the best option today.
If we miss the post-season, we will look back to game 2 vs UTenn and game 3 vs UK and game 2 vs USCe as a major reasons why.

the only thing I want to hear from him is "I'm stepping down as coach of LSU"...

I know. Which is all the more infuriating when I see us just give games away with poor staff mgmt.

I don't even know what to do from here.
Marceaux and Labas will give us a chance to win, but we need to score more than 2 runs. If we have to go to the pen, we're screwed.
Fontenot plays with too much fire to trust on the back end. But, I don't know if we have another option.
Maybe we give Hellmers or Floyd a look for game 3 now. Still not sure they're ready.
Travinski is so bad behind the plate and not hitting now. Maybe time to just let Milazzo figure it out.
Arnold hasn't hit since being a regular. But, I still like his chances better than Cranford.
The ship is going to sink with just 2 trusty arms, and an entirely erratic lineup. We managed 2 runs in 14 innings today, and couldn't piece together 8 innings after Labas went 6+. I think we're just not good.

he’s ready enough to have thrown at least one damn pitch over the last 2 weekends

Agree completely. I would've put Hellmers in after the 1st inning today. Money's walk with 2 outs then the bomb was enough in a do or die game.

i would have started him the last 2 sundays (depending on how he looked last Sunday can KY)

I was fine with Money getting the call last Sunday, but not fine with leaving Fowler in after the Morgan HR. Hellmers would've been my guy for game 3 today, especially with the Tuesday game cancelled.

i didn’t hate the move either.
my personal pick would have been Hellmers though.

Sure there is... he can say "I'm quitting".... "I'm stepping sown"... "I have health concerns and I need to walk away".... and so forth.
