Spears was my neighbor for a short time after the season and before he was drafted. Used to shoot the shite with him and he would show me all the letters he was getting from NFL teams. Awesome dude.

What's so great about Spears is that he is down to earth and lets his love for the program show. He's professional but not so much that he hides his true feelings about the school he loves! McFarland is great as well but seems a bit uptight at times, not like Spears who lets it all hangout...that's the difference I see and why Spears is so admirable IMO.

He always does something hilarious when it comes to these games. Him and Stephen A Smith after LSU beats Bama always has me cracking up. Not just that, but he called the damn play right when they lined up.

He was a Saban recruit
I thought he'd be more conflicted. He loves Saban. But obviously, he loves LSU much, much more.

All of you remember the play he had against Oklahoma in the BCS.
It was at that moment, sitting just a few seats up from where he scored, that I realized that I was actually going to witness my Tigers winning a national championship. After nearly 40 years a fan, I never thought I'd see that day.

I'm not crying, you're crying.

Let's put this in better perspective because it does need to be appreciated. He was a Saban recruit and probably expected to play right end at LSU. He was a team player and switched sides. All of you remember the play he had against Oklahoma in the BCS. He had a solid career in Dallas and he is still forever LSU. If that doesn't make you happy I don't know what will

I saw Marcus Spears speak at a gridiron club meeting one Friday before an alabama (saban) game and he told us how he and a few other guys from Louisiana decided that if they want to represent Louisiana and their families they need to play for LSU and not these other out of state programs.

And that really did shift recruiting for LSU. Kevin Faulk or Joe Burrow may be the most important recruit in LSU history, but Marcus Spears is upper echelon as well.

I always liked Spears because the way he played and carried himself but after hearing him say how important it was to him to represent Louisiana by being a Tiger gave me a whole new level of respect for him.

All time top Tiger. What a guy.

Spears, Shaq, Booger always just REPPING the Tigers in the right way. I fricking love it.
