Players testing ‘positive’ before a big game

You thought losing Devin white was a raw deal- wait till Myles or Chase or any other player is told they can’t play cuz a covid- it’ll happen before the big game- I’m calling it now...playing the season won’t mean we won’t get played this season.

I swear, people start the same damn threads all day. You think you’re the first to think of this?

And I just don't get it. No one has any idea what's going to happen yet. Could the season get canceled or star players test positive? Of course. But, the constant need to proclaim that it will happen makes no sense to me.

I would hope that our leaders are smart enough not to test them before a big game.

Do you mean testing “positive”
Posted on 7/15/20 at 7:32 pm to TigerLunatik
I know teams are gonna play them and then it comes out they played with a positive test
You can’t question it because of privacy

All that matters is how many opposing players test “positive” the week of theory Bama game.....just saying

As they should. This damned virus would burn itself out once a certain % gets it. The ACTUAL mortality rate is close to nothing.

As long as you are not one of the statistics. Then it is a lot.

With over 30 Florida testing sites reporting 100% or near 100% positive test. If the test are accurate we have reached heard immunity. If they are false then we can assume this has been happening and the Covid-19 is a scam.

Am I the only one worried about guys getting false positives and then being out for 3-4 weeks?

This is ultimately why I don't see the season happening from a practical standpoint.
It is likely that some guys on EVERY team in the US is going to test positive at some point in preseason camp and during the season. That being the case, is the protocol going to be quarantining JUST those who test positive? Or everyone on the team he has "come into contact" with? If the latter, then you are talking about numerous players on the team being quarantined as one simply can't/play practice a team sport with out players coming into contact with each other. Then the question becomes "how long do you quarantine"? 10 days? 14 days? Either way, it means those who are quarantined are going to miss at least 1-2 games?
Then what happens if a player tests positive the day or two after a game? Does that mean guys on the opposing team, who were certainly in contact with that player during the game, now have to quarantine as well? It seems the tentacles of precaution are endless and makes actually playing the season damn near impossible if teams are constantly quarantining players.
When I was in HS we had a week where something like 30+ players on our team got pink eye. Everyday it was a bit more than the day before. Each guy that had it had to sit out of practice. By Thursday almost half of our team was out. On Friday we damn near ran a JV team out on the field to play the game. Our starting line up looked almost nothing like our line up the week before. Luckily that was just one week. But with covid and (presumed) weekly quarantines, it is entirely possible coaches will be forced to run out vastly different lineups from week to week. I can't imagine any coach wanting to play a season like that.

Your right, you convinced me. Now to make sure every negative is covered, let's immediately institute a NO TOLERANCE national 5 mph speed limit so we can eliminate all traffic deaths. Then proceed on to continued draconian solutions for any other risks we can find in society.

That’s why you get it on purpose now
Posted on 7/16/20 at 12:52 pm to eltigre2
Eltigre, as I've posted multiple times on various threads, I GUARANTEE you there are a significant number of unrecorded covid cases that exist because people have unknowingly had this by being asymptomatic, or they were sick, and recovered WITHOUT going to the doctor like most people don't go to the doctor when ill. When you divide the actual "covid" deaths into the actual number of cases, (reported AND unreported), the mortality rate is infinitesimal.

I think the season will be played, and you will see many, MANY subs playing each week as players rotate out due to illness. The teams with better overall depth will do better this year than they have in any year prior. As Mach said, the cream.... something about the top.
