LSU and Louisiana, bastions of temperance.
The answer is, it's not true.

Then why is everyone saying this and blaming LSU for these supposed suspensions?

I am generally one to say "follow the rules". However, times are changing and this is being used against LSU.
Players are opting out and looking to transfer because they do not want a suspension on their record that can hurt their draft prospects. You are not going to see the reasons for a suspension in the media, but I am not the only one posting here that has contacts inside the department and knows what is going on.
LSU needs to rethink how they punish the guys. As soon as you throw out a 3 game suspension, the public knows and the NFL is going to get to the bottom of it.

Tim Williams (former Bama star) literally said in pre-draft interviews he failed multiple drug tests but was never suspended.

Our compliance department makes smoking weed a multiple game suspension. This is why Tory Carter couldn’t play in his last game as a tiger. Other programs look the other way with good reason . This rule about marijuana is extremely outdated and will only create prescription drug problems down the road. If I had a son playing football at the collegiate level and was offered Percocet for pain by a physician vs weed by someone else, but would have to transfer. You better believe he will be transferring.
I have an excellent paying job that supports my family very well. Add to that I am involved in hazardous activities by legal definition. My employer random drug tests and if I am called to submit a sample and it does not pass then I am fired immediately no questions asked per the zero tolerance policy.
You think weed is harmless. Weed is the second biggest demotivator for individual goal achievement I have ever seen behind cocaine. No, it wont physically harm you but habitual weed smokers generally settle for just getting by.
I am not generally for draconian rules but you got to have some control over the program

our compliance depart is out of control and seems to be out to ruin our teams. Look at all the future convicts and miscreants that play for Bama and how rarely you ever hear of these kind of things over there. Their compliance dept knows better than to f with the football team. Our compliance dept seems to not give a heads up to the players ahead of time when they will be getting tested for drugs and/or performance enhancement drugs, plus why are we even testing for weed. Why are they looking to bust players for criminal activities and not working with law enforcement to try to protect them from reporting them for criminal activities. Why are they being reported
or even flunked for academic issues and required to attend classes and that sort of thing. Our compliance dept needs to be put in its place and realize their job is to work on keeping players eligible and out of trouble and certainly not to cause them and the team problems.

who gives a shite. If a star athlete wants to get high or snort some coke for relaxation or even just to party who are we to get on our high horse and tell them otherwise. You do realize this has a huge negative effect on recruiting and player transfers and players declaring early for the NFL draft.

personally I am tired of hearing top recruits saying they will take their talents to other schools who don't frick with their players the way LSU does

NCAA says if you have a policy (that applies outside NCAA sanction events such as bowl games) you must follow it.
So you're left with the choice of violating or bending the rules of your own policy, which then (and only then) becomes a NCAA violation resulting in harsher penalties
OR
Adhering to that policy and losing those players.
Neither is working. Both have huge risks and detriments. When you find yourself in a hole... stop fricking digging.

Bama doesn't kick players like honey badger off their team for weed, but LSU has and Bama coaches let his recruits know all about it and how it is a blemish on their nfl record. They are scared to come to LSU if they love their weed
truth, I am sick of watching Louisiana players like Devonta Smith, Dylan Moses, Christopher Allen, Christian Harris, Phidaris Mathis and losing Patrick Surtain at the last minute to Bama

Bullsheet! It had no effect on high ankle sprains and sore elbows. You'll have to trust me when I say I gave it every chance to work...

Because LSU fans are stupid and believe anything if it gets repeated enough.

I agree with this. Weed makes you lazy and content! If you smoke it regularly, it destroys your work ethic.
But if it is true that other universities are not suspending players for it, then LSU should get on board. Maybe make the players go to some substance abuse counseling, but no game suspensions for testing positive for marijuana

thats funny they dont teach that in medschool. weed is a better and safer alternative to opioids? there are other options short of opioids for pain. i havent read this message board long, but this infatuation with weed is strange. everytime some kid is in trouble its bc of the racist compliance office at LSU.
weed is illegal. until its not, its still an illegal substance. you cant smoke weed at my job. you cant smoke it for many jobs. people have to take some responsibility for themselves and not blame "unfair" rules. thats what we should be teaching kids- you have to function within the rules of society. and we should help them do this through more healthy avenues.
