Why do you think ole miss isnt starting nikhazy today?

Fact is, his arm is used to throwing 30 or 40 pitches that close to a start.
So you are gonna just ignore the high stress pitches, got it.

He pitched great. A couple of those runs were because of errors and a small strike zone
All of the runs were earned. Errors had nothing to do with it. He was good. The main thing is he ate up innings.
He has to be better than good this week. We're not facing Gonzaga. that's my point. I wouldn't roll the dice with Labas until I have to. But I have no idea what Mainieri will do.

So you said earlier in this thread "an argument can be made for Hilliard or Marceaux"
Someone comes in and makes an argument for why they would start Marceaux and you're acting like a dickhole about it
I laid out all the points for why I would throw Marceaux. If you don't like it then, great. I think he has had plenty enough rest. He has had starts this year with 6 days of rest between. This is one day less than that and Monday wasn't a full fledged start. It was 40 pitches in relief where his normal side session would have been.
I'm sorry that my opinion upset you so badly.

Correct. And it has to do with throwing your best guy even though he will be on short rest. Its a risk, because he may not be himself.

I didn't think you were acting like a dickhole....initially.

The main piece here is you dont think Monday was a big difference for him, and I and many others do. That's all.

Never said I was upset.

Marceaux is not on less than optimal rest. Monday would have been his normal side session day anyway. Maybe he threw more pitches on Monday than his side session, but he also has an extra day of rest given this series starts on Saturday.
Marceaux is your ace. He starts game 1.
This also gives the ability for 1 inning of relief on Monday from him.
This is incorrect on multiple levels.
First, his pitches on Monday were nothing like a side session. You don't go max effort with that kind of stress in a side session. I made this point the other day: There is a reason you don't see starters come out of the bullpen and pitch on their "side session" days in the majors.
There is no "extra rest" for a guy who pitched twice in 4 days and gets 4 days off, as opposed to his normal 6.
Therefore, he should not start game 1, in my opinion. And I'm not interested in Marceaux pitching in relief on ONE DAY of rest on a Monday. That's pushing it too much.

I think Labas flat out has better stuff than Hilliard when he's on. Labas can control three pitches and his fastball has movement to it. Hilliard has a wipeout curve but he has to throw it for strikes damn near every time to make up for his mediocre fastball. Labas also threw 7 innings and only gave up 2ER in the reg season to Tenn

I meant that in regards to how much each pitched last weekend, not in regards to their talent. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

The logic is that you pitch backwards to give your other 2 pitchers better matchups and hope to win in 3.

Hilliard's fastball has a lot of run on it. More than Labas has. They both have the same problem that if they leave their fastball over the middle, they don't have enough velocity to get away with it. Hilliard has been better than Labas over the last month, until this past weekend. I like Hilliard when he's on more than Labas, when he's on. I've seen Hilliard dominate SEC lineups, at times. I have never seen that from Labas. Labas is solid when he's on.
But that's just me. I won't hate it if Labas goes before Hilliard; I just have a different preference.

Its very much my opinion that tennessee best starter isnt pitching game 1

I know almost nothing about Tenn, care to elaborate?

I think tidwell has better stuff than chad dallas.

because I think they are throwing Tidwell game 2. Dude is a beast
LSU had 8 hits off of him in 5 innings of work in game 3 of the reg season. They should be fine if they continue their hot hitting

He's gotten better as the season has gone on. Not saying we can't hit him or anything, but he's not the same guy that we faced in March.

I want Marceaux to be at his best so I would give him an extra day's rest and start Labas in game one. I am glad we start Saturday and not Friday.

Landon will be ready. I like his matchup against Chad Dallas. Dallas' stuff doesn't look good but teams struggle to put it together against him. I think we figure him out.
Game 2 is the big question mark. Labas threw really well against Tennessee, and has the bigger sample size. We all know how he followed up the Ole Miss outing, though. If we win game 1, though, I throw Hilliard in game 2. If we lose game 1, I throw Labas in game 2.
TN's 3rd guy is average at best, and doesn't eat up alot of innings. And, they really only have a 2 man bullpen.
