Pitching this weekend
Tired of all the coach search talk. Let’s talk weekend rotation. When will PM tip his hand? I like Marceaux tomorrow if he’s had enough rest. If not then Hilliard

re: Pitching this weekend
I really hope it's not Marceaux in game 1. Hate to see the ace go out there on less than optimal rest and not have it, when there is no real advantage in a super regional format to start him in game 1 over game 2. Your top two guys are pitching the first two games, and you have to win two games, no matter what.

It seems like an easy decision, but I have no expectation. Mainieri has confounded all of us with his pitching plans before. I just hope the offense carries over the momentum and that we make the Vols put the ball in play, unlike the last time we faced them.

I would go Labas game 1. If Labas is on then he can match up with any ace in the country. If he’s not then you still have Marceaux and Hilliard for the next two games.

No logical reason to start labas in game 1. An argument can be made for hilliard or marceaux

He is the pitcher with the most rest. (I'm aware Hilliard pitched only an inning Monday, just offering a reason)

Start Labas and give him a whole bunch of that sticky shite. Everyone's cool with it nowadays.

re: Pitching this weekend
I throw Marceaux in game 1, then shock the world and throw Coleman in game 2 against Tidwell, keep that low scoring win or lose, then have Labas or Hilliard in a game 3 (if necessary) to get us to Omaha.

Labas going 8 innings last weekend was huge and absolutely essential to LSU's chances of coming back in that regional. That being said, while it was obviously a much better outing than he's had in a while, he did still give up 4 runs to an offense that isn't exactly explosive. But, you never know, maybe that last start gives him a bolt of confidence and he throws even better this week, if in fact he does pitch at some point.

Personally, I'd go Hilliard, Marceaux and then Labas, if necessary.

Game one is huge because I think they are throwing Tidwell game 2. Dude is a beast. We have to get game one IMO

re: Pitching this weekend
Hilliard has more rest, and only threw like 14 pitches on monday combined with 63ish on saturday, he totaled about 77. Labas thre 120 on sunday.

He pitched great. A couple of those runs were because of errors and a small strike zone

Or throw your best vs their best and save Marceaux for game 2

Marceaux is not on less than optimal rest. Monday would have been his normal side session day anyway. Maybe he threw more pitches on Monday than his side session, but he also has an extra day of rest given this series starts on Saturday.

Marceaux is your ace. He starts game 1.

This also gives the ability for 1 inning of relief on Monday from him.

Pretty sure tuesday wouldve been his bullpen day. Also, its not just that he threw more pitches, its that he also threw close to 40 high leverage pitches. That was alot more than a normal bullpen.

Maybe, but its not 100% necessary

Huh

Maybe I suck at math but he usually pitches only once a weekend and gets a full weeks rest

What am I missing

That some of the retards here think normal MLB rest = some universal normal rest.

When normal rest means exactly what you described, the amount of rest the pitcher normally gets between starts.

re: Pitching this weekend
Thanks for explaining high leverage pitches to me. I was complete unaware.

Fact is, his arm is used to throwing 30 or 40 pitches that close to a start.

If you *THINK* his side day would have normally been Tuesday, then this week means he had TWO extra days of rest between that appearance and Saturday night. He has also probably had a Thursday start the season after a Friday start with a side session in between.

Who said anything about MLB rest you dumbass. This kid has had 6 days between starts this season at points with a side session in between.

This is 8 days between starts with a relief appearance wedged in where the side session would have normally been.
