Dude could be awesome in this role, whether his 3rd pitch continues to evolve or not

This just goes to show how exciting baseball will be. We're a month out from football and still talking about the diamond

Watched some video recently of Skenes, Hurd, Noot, and Shores.

Hurd has the nastiest stuff I’ve seen of all the guys. Shores is raw, but his fastball has some late movement at 96-97. Still scratching my head how he made it to LSU. That kid is going to bump 100 before he leaves campus.

Taylor ain’t battling anyone for a midweek start, he’ll be your #1 long reliever and 4th starter when you need it. He’s too valuable to be used against the SWAC

midweek will be used on prepping someone for next year or to get some work in for others.

I would be surprised if Skenes is not in the rotation but it isn't impossible. Little might have the highest ceiling on the team if he gets it together. Hurd might be the best bet for Friday night guy and I wouldn't count Floyd out either.

Assuming all are healthy…
Hurd
Skenes
Little

And I doubt that Noot would have been the Friday starter anyway.

Why would little be ahead of Floyd?

My pick for Sunday is Floyd.

Greatest thing about the makeup of this team is injuries will not handicap them. Will suck to lose any of them, but you have confidence that the next man up can do a damn good job.

He isnt. Floyd should be a favorite to start over Little easily

Floyd and Taylor in my book, as of now, is ahead of Little. Little has not shown enough consistency to have him in front of either of those guys. Taylor showed signs of how good he can be during last season and then had a really good summer in the Cape.

Just a gut feeling based on Little’s potential. I agree that Floyd may be our #3…possibly #2 based on his best outings from this year.

I guess it kind of depends on what the promise is for Little.

I prefer him to Floyd as he is a little more athletic with better secondary. But also think he Is the obvious guy to maybe close games out. I don’t think Floyd really has a closers mentality

Little was great out of the bullpen last year for Vandy

28.1IP
36K (11.5 per 9)
7 BB (1.9 per 9)
1.91 ERA
0.88 WHIP

He was developing a 2nd pitch last year.

I think the changeup had the most potential. The slider was well below average.

I really like Taylor but he hasn’t shown it yet either. Even though Little has been in school for a couple years he’s actually a year younger than Taylor so I don’t think we can rule out the kind of jump from him that we expect from Taylor.

Taylor showed the ability multiple times to throw 4+ IP in an outing last season. I think he might have just got overused a little as a freshman and toward the end of the season he was struggling with command. Both of them played in the Cape in the summer and those outings weren't even close as to who showed more consistency.

Little could have the highest potential on this staff if everything clicks for him, but I'm taking Floyd and Taylor over Little to start a weekend game for me right now if I had to choose though.

I agree on Little. He was the top or top few pitchers coming out of HS. As a Fr, he was in a lineup with several 1st Rd pitchers and maybe that got in his head. I doubt he had ever been on a team where he wasn’t clearly the best pitcher.

I can see some epic scrimmage battles b/w White and a bunch of the pitchers named in this thread.
