We aren’t going to have multiple 1st rounders or Skenes at starting pitching every year, or in the bullpen for that matter. Henceforth, we need to pursues pitchers who can locate and pitch to contact rather than guys that have great stuff and can rack up strikeouts, but at the same time can’t locate and will get absolutely touched at times.

This has been a fricking pathetic showing by Yeskie. I’m in full agreement Jay deserves a war chest for NIL but you can’t tell me Wes Johnson is flush with resources. There has to be some huge adjustments in training and development from the pitching staff.

I’ve said this before. Yeskie takes great pitchers and makes them elite. But he can’t take meh pitchers and make them good,

11 runs on 7 hits tonight. That's a routine line for LSU pitching this season. Instead of trying to strike every batter out, how about we mix in a strike every now and then?

I’m counting the days until Yeskie gets fired. It’s less than 10 now.

In my opinion, yeskie is good at elevating things like velo and spin rate in pitchers, so the stuff. I think he struggles to teach pitchers true command of their ptiches. You see it with Evans, Rizy, Lachenmeyer, and such. Basically, the pitcher needs to come with already having command for yeskie to elevate their overall game with stuff

Be careful; you can’t be critical on this board. Temder ears will be offended.

Agree. Great pitchers already have this.

We doubt your ability to count to 10, actually.

If you don't have command, the other shite doesn't matter.

Excellent strategy to get to the Supers and make it to Omaha once a decade!

Yeskie deserves plenty of blame for the results of this year. But to act like he doesn’t know what he’s doing is crazy.

Wes Johnson has put some of the worst pitching staffs in the SEC on the field since he's been at UGA.

Yeah, these guys basically want us to go get the kid from Central (general reference to a random LA pitcher) who throws a flat 92 and induces ground balls in the Sun Belt.

Also, the idea of there being a plethora of available, strike throwing, soft contact inducing pitchers is hilarious.

We've won 2 titles utilizing primarily strikeout pitchers. Like, our '23 win happened because the strikeout pitchers finally decided to strike people out.

He’s definitely improved guys who weren’t elite. Shores is a good example. Holman and Jump were also good college pitchers, but definitely not elite. All 3 took steps forward and were very good by the 24 and 25 postseasons.

Evans and Williams have obviously regressed this year, but both improved from pre-season until the post-season last year where both played important roles.

The issue with Yeskie is that it is hit and miss which typical college pitchers will develop and improve with his coaching. But he does get more out of some of them.

I do agree that a change in coaching style should he considered. If not, they have to do a better job of identifying pitchers who will work best with Yeskie’s coaching.

You can't really teach command in the sense that you seem to be implying.

You absolutely can teach spin rate, velo (to an extent) pitch creation, and mechanics. Yeskie absolutely gets the most out of his guys in that regard.

He also likes to use the season as a way to ease guys in with certain pitches and creating their own "command" of their arsenal. The early injury to Moore, shitty defense, and poor offensive output put the entire staff in a bad spot early on, and they just never got rolling. I think you had an entire staff of guys pressing, and that just led to disastrous results.

Williams regressing and Rizy not being able to be counted on really, really cost this team. I know Jay and Yeskie were looking at Williams as a weekend guy in the fall. I know Jay and Yeskie were counting on 4+ innings a weekend from Rizy. What happened to those 2 is unexplainable. I mean Rizy went to the cape and allowed 2 base runners in 6.2 innings and had 12 K. He hit 1 batter, and gave up 1 hit.

Cooper Williams gave up some soft contact and free passes last year, but got outs in between. This year it was 2 free passes in a row, then hard contact.
