I think they have been putting too much emphasis on velocity and not enough on guys that simply know how to pitch and can throw strikes. Rizy can damn near hit 100 and cant get the ball within 10' of the plate!

Kade Anderson got raked his freshman year. Didn't he have over a 10 era? He had to develop like anyone else. He wasn't already "great". He had potential great stuff but it still had to be developed.

I think Yeskie deserves every bit of criticism but it's pretty foolish to try to lie and fit a narrative that he never develops pitchers unless they're already great.

Someone above said it more realistically if they have elite stuff he can elevate them but if they don't, they get worse.

Yeah, these guys basically want us to go get the kid from Central (general reference to a random LA pitcher) who throws a flat 92 and induces ground balls in the Sun Belt. Also, the idea of there being a plethora of available, strike throwing, soft contact inducing pitchers is hilarious. We've won 2 titles utilizing primarily strikeout pitchers. Like, our '23 win happened because the strikeout pitchers finally decided to strike people out

I usually just amuse myself reading these fantasy league GMs comments on how CJJ needs to fix this. These people never dealt with what we called Human Factors in the manufacture of highly hazardous materials. You can have the best designs, pedigrees, training, etc but when in operation did the personnel know the plan, execute the plan, capable of the plan, or care about the plan.

Last season we had Cam Johnson come in looking on paper like the next Paul Skenes. He hasnt found his baseball arse with either hand yet despite having top 5% physicals. He may yet find it. But this yr we had 10-15 Cam Johnsons. These players were ones a lot of people wanted at one time. The Human Factors showed that despite the work up front they still did not work out this year.

I think you misread my drift. I am 100% behind these coaches. What my point is supposed to be is that even after the scouting and due diligence is done several of this years players underperformed. You always have a few like that but we had an abnormal umber this year.

Need a lefty that can give you solid innings. Definitely need guys with better pitch to contact stuff. Need a sinker pitcher and more guys that can keep a changeup down.
