There is no reason to care about this

I listened to an interview with him years ago. A large portion of his philosophy is returning production.
Considering a near roster overhaul for LSU he has little to go on.

The only time I cared was back before the internet blew up. I would get all the magazines and use the rosters to fill in my NCAA CFB game. Life was good.

I’m as pumped as anybody should be about this team. I’m excited to be in TS when we kickoff against Clem.
However… despite the extreme generosity from our beloved boosters, this is a new offensive coaching staff, new QB, entirely new WR corps, largely a new OL (probably a good thing, but remains to be seen). We’re asking a lot from our DL. The program guys are younger, the transfers are proven but haven’t played together.
This team needs to gel fast. @OM week 3, A&M week 4, @Aub late October, Bama, Texas, and an Arkansas team that will probably only have our game to play for. We’re asking a lot.
I get it the money has been paid. 10-2+ is a reasonable P&G goggles expectation based on that. An outside pundit expecting this group to fall short of that given the factors laid out is not unrealistic though.

So he tanked a team returning their QB that went on a deep playoff run over a team with new coaching and roster?

I used to buy his magazine every year until magazines became obsolete decades ago.

Notre Dame, #1, lol. I don’t think even Lou Holtz was that dumb.

He predicted LSU to finish 3rd in the SEC West.
In 2019.

Add athlons and Lindy’s to the list. They are making predictions, but it’s a good read on the shitter or on an airplane to dive deeper into SEC rosters.

What has LSU done to warrant a higher ranking?

ND is an easy #1 pick because the schedule is dogshit. They could have the team plane crash and go 10-2.

I stopped taking Phil Steele seriously around 2008.

Phil Steele was relevant in 2009

Phil has always made his predictions based on returning coaches and players,LSU isn’t very experienced .About 7 new starters on offense and prob 5-6 on defense.Im a LSU fan and I understand where he’s coming from although the potential is great to think about.
