Was Michael Divinity really a 5 star?

I agree. We have no reason not to field a top 5 defense. We have he highest paid DC in the country.

O got to handpick his OC, again. Star, Urban Meyer coached, QB. Buku talent at WR.

On paper we should contend for the West. At a minimum win 10 games. Including the bowl. So 10-3 at least.

Yeah. He went to the Under Armour game and killed it in practice. He actually decommitted the week before and committed to us at the game and that was Arandas 1st LB he landed.

247sports had him at #18 overall.

10 wins has been the "goalpost" since 2003.

Honestly, it got to the point where 10 wins was looked at as underachieving and constantly downplayed as mediocre.

I actually think 10-2 is the floor for a SUCCESSFUL season. 9-3 with a win in a non NY6 bowl is nothing we didn’t get virtually every year under the last coach who was fired.

If we go 9-3 again, with a stud DC he inherited, and a stud previously trained QB that fell into his lap, I honestly just don’t see the upward trajectory.

9-3 wouldn’t be fireable unfortunately but it certainly wouldn’t be a feather in Os cap. At that point it would be win the West in 19 or GTFO, possibly in September like his predecessor.

10-2 would virtually guarantee a NY6 Bowl this year. THAT is upward trajectory and a very successful season and one that virtually everyone would applaud.

Two consecutive seasons without 10 wins get National Championship coaches fired in Baton Rouge. Why the frick would it be any different for whatever kind of coach O is?

I’m just being positive. No reason this team shouldn’t win 10 games.

Are you saying I shouldn’t expect LSU to be good?

I disagree but a case can be made each way. We’ve been fortunate at LB with Bradie, Minter, Debo, Kwon, Duke, Beckwith and now Devin.

I should be lashed for forgetting about Ali Highsmith.

This LB core/Dline has maybe he most potential of any front 7 that I can remember.

ETA: I love that someone downvoted me for saying that we have a great front 7. Can’t win with this Posi-O’s.

Because the schedule is sooo tough.

Because usually LSU has a weak schedule

2011 was a great schedule. LSU went toe to toe with the best, AND won!!!!

2010 - 11-2 - Cotton - W
2011 - 13-1 (SEC champs) - Natty - L
2012 - 10-3 - Chick-fil-a - L
2013 - 10-3 - Outback - W
2014 - 8-5 - Music City - L
2015 - 9-3 - Texas Bowl - W
2016 - 8-4 - Fired Miles

2016 - 8-4 - Citrus - W
2017 - 9-4 - Citrus - L

So following 4 straight 10+ win seasons, LSU fires their coach mid-year after two sub-10 win seasons.

I'm not sure the expectations could be communicated any more clearly.

Sun Belt-SwAc caliber talent on the OL will derail it.

I keep saying it. Just wait until sometime in Mid-Late October. It will be visibly apparent by then and everyone will be .

National Ranking by position:

Brumfield (6)
Ingram (13)
Charles (18)
Deculus (10)
Cole Smith (8)
Traore (1 - JUCO)
Lewis (2 - JUCO)

You may not like them, but I doubt you find a single Sunbelt or SWAC O-lineman rated as high.
