Pete Golding nailed the offseason! Kiffin? He did as well as Auburn

Interesting article from CBS Sports
LINK
If Chambliss is the reason for the A+, then shouldn't we be giving credit to the MS judge who allowed him to play, not Pete? Semantics aside, Chambliss and Lacy did have great seasons last year. But aren't there a few guys who were a big part of that success who are no longer at Ole Miss? Like the HC (playcaller), OC, RB, WR, TE coaches...otherwise known as basically the entire Ole Miss offensive staff? It seems like a lot to attribute the great play of two guys who never achieved that level of success prior, strictly to the players and not the coaches who directed it. But, Ole Miss had the #2 transfer class and a "top 25" HS signing class. That's great!...until you compare it to a guy who "didn't quite have the same level of offseason success
Sooo having the #1 transfer class and the #11 HS class isn't as impactful for LSU who, as mentioned above, also has the entire coaching staff who led the great OM players to success

Grading college football rosters for Year 1 coaches: Pete Golding, Ole Miss earn top marks

Ole Miss and new coach Pete Golding lead the pack in our roster grades for the contingent of first-year coaches. Simply put, no other first-year coach is entering the 2026 season with a quarterback quite like Trinidad Chambliss.
Ole Miss: A+
New coach: Pete Golding
Transfer class ranking: 2
In a wild time of transition, upheaval and chaos, new coach Pete Golding appears to have nailed his first roster. With the backing of a strong NIL operation, the Rebels landed the nation's No. 2 transfer haul while also attracting top 25 high school class. What's most impressive, though, are the retentions. Heisman contenders return at quarterback (Trinidad Chambliss) and running back (Kewan Lacy). Key contributors are also back on all three levels of the defense for an Ole Miss team with aspirations of a second straight CFP appearance.

LSU: A-
New coach: Lane Kiffin
Transfer class ranking: 1
Can a revamped offensive line headlined by No. 1-ranked offensive tackle transfer Jordan Seaton (Colorado) keep Sam Leavitt upright and improve the Tigers' moribund rushing attack? Those are the biggest questions surrounding LSU's first roster under Lane Kiffin. Leavitt is coming off an injury-shortened 2025 campaign at Arizona State and was heavily limited in spring practice. Kiffin assembled a great receiver room, but A+ level line play is no guarantee, as the Tigers' offensive line landed at 29th nationally in Phil Steele's unit rankings.

Off-season clickbait bullshite. Don't feed the trolls man.

What a retarded article.
One program downgraded at pretty much every level of the coaching staff but held onto a pretty good quarterback and a running back that scored a ton from the goal line, finished #2 in the portal and #26 in the HS ranks. That's an A+!
The other program upgraded very level of their program from top to bottom, got the highest ranked player, quarterback, offensive tackle, and edge rusher, and finished #1 in the portal and #12 in the HS ranks (with 19 players and about 20 spots higher in the per player average) and they get an A-.
This has nothing to do with how well the teams will perform in 2026. In terms of purely "offseason" rating, no program in America had a better offseason than LSU.

so they’re ranking rosters not the job the coach did to get said roster and basically they like Trinidad and Lacy

typical CBS b/s. Come September, none of this will matter

Probably written by the same guy who said LSU has the easiest football schedule of the 16 teams in the SEC conference.

So no excuses when Ole Miss takes a step back this year?

Seems like some of the media wants to run with the delusion of Ole Miss being as well off with Golding than Kiffin as the Ole Miss fanbase does.

I like this. Who cares. Let them have all the off season #1 rankings/lists. Actions on the field will speak louder than these dumb lists.

Seems like some of the media wants to run with this delusion of Ole Miss being as well off or better with Golding than Kiffin as the Ole Miss fanbase is.
It’s ok though let all of them keep going with this delusion while it’s still talking season. It’s gonna really hit the media and the Ole Miss fanbase in the nuts when the season does start and it’s time to start backing up all of this delusion with results on the field.

This entire article, like all articles, is intended to get clicks and drive traffic. I would pay it no attention.

The only thing missing from the OM assessment is the picture of Judge Robert Whitwell and Pete G having lunch together, and having a good laugh... Gonna be fun watching week 3 when LK calls a play to throw it into the end zone inside a minute left and we are already up by 10.

Who..... CAREs?
let Pete have his 20 mins of glory.
the article is about roster construction, not how well they will play on the field. Ole Miss retained a Lot of their offense. They will no doubt have talent.
They will obviously try to change as little of the offensive scheme as possible... GREAT! it's Lane's scheme, He knows the players and he knows what scheme they will try to recreate... and he will know how to exploit the weaknesses.
Our D should be ready....
What Our coaching staff needs to be doing, is playing the media game... "Man, Ole Miss is great! They have great players! it's gonna be a tall ask to beat them.".... Praise them all off season...
then crush them on the field.
what the media writes does not matter in the least...

Blows my mind that One program lost basically the whole offensive staff including the offensive minded head coach and the national media acts like they won't lose a step. Golding is the new media darling

Highest rated most money spent transfer portal with literally nothing but top end talent and LSU is A- . This is laughable. Not to mention LSU poached Ole Miss top tackling LB alongside one of the best pass rushers in SEC but somehow yeah, they dunked on LSU.
Nobody has played a down, sure, but on paper anyone who doesn't think LSU did the best in the portal here is absolutely ignorant. That's not blinders speaking. By the end of the season it might not look like that but right now on paper LSU did the best job in the portal especially given the circumstances rebuilding a roster. These guys are insane.
