re: Permanent opponents to remain intact for 2014...9 conference games in 2015?

I'm sure LSU is going to have Mizzou or Vandy rotate on, since LSU has never played Zou and Vandy was the longest ago of the East teams.
I just don't think the SEC has gotten enough flack for how insanely half baked the addition of the two new schools has been.
Three years without a permanent schedule and a plan is a fricking joke, and its absolutely pathetic regardless of what the schedules actually are.
Oh and some team in the East won't pay aTm until their 5th year in the league, and some team in the West won't play Zou till then. Half a decade before you the new guys even see everyone in the league. Makes a pants-load of sense to me.

my God lsu has got to be the whiniest bunch of fans in college football. if your team is so damn good then just BEAT the teams on your schedule and quit fricking bitching so damn much.....geez
Bama has had the easiest schedule in the conference for all 3 of Sabans championships. If you played our schedule you might have 1 NC. freakin idiot!!

Just man up and beat BAMA when it counts, with a home field advantage, and the schedule talk never happens
We have to beat 4 quality teams.
Bama has to beat 2 quality teams. Hopefully our offense will be better and we can start beating Bama again.

Not an alter for a Gump at all. I will admit I hold Saban in much higher regard than most of folks on here. But enough is enough. No one has yet to provide an answer to my question on how the schedule has helped Bama or hurt us since 2009. It has and will come down to the BAMA game every year for us regardless of the schedule format. I bleed purple and gold as much as anyone, but fail to see how this has cost us anything.

Beating your head against a wall seems appropriate as no one can answer the question: how has the scheduled since 2009 negatively affected us and benefitted BAMA??

If LSU and aTm don't have UF on the schedule in 2012, then there is a 3 way tie in the SECW. Who knows how that shakes out.
I don't even think its that bad. UGA getting skipped is a little sketchy, but somebody had to play Zou from the West last year. The fact that we're about to be on year 3 of a bridge is a far bigger joke than the schedule disparities themselves.

And if we hold on to a lead with under 2 minutes left at home against BAMA, I know how that shakes out. I would like something concrete as to the difference the schedule has made in each teams fortune the past 4 years.

In 2011 Alabama got the benefit of the label "SEC Schedule" when they in fact played one team worth a damn in the entire season. Now that there's been this much preseason talk about the fact that all SEC schedules are not created equal, there will be no problems.

The BCS intention is to get the top two teams in the last game to play for the title. That happened in 2011. Was it a repeat game? Of course. But the objective was met.

As of right now this is true. But the permanent opponents as they are right now are actually fair based on history. If Tenn were a top 10 team the last 10 years no one could say anything about Bama's permanent opponent. It just so happens they are on a down cycle. It will turn around. And Fla could go an a down cycle. You just never know each year. Who knows, when Vandy comes around for us, they could be a top 10 team, then fall off the map right after their home and home with us.

I get what you're saying, but it would be nice if LSU wasn't running the gauntlet every year while Bama was getting ready for us and maybe one other good opponent. That takes its toll on a team in a season. Maybe Kwon Alexander doesn't get hurt if LSU is playing Kentucky instead of Florida, and his presence on the field helps stop Yeldon from taking it to the house. My point is that because so many variables exist throughout a season, the scheduling needs to be objective. Given our eastern opponents' records over the past 2 years, it's obvious that Bama has an advantage there.

You never played football did you Diggy? You don't have a clue as to how a season tears down an athlete's body.
By scheduling soft opponents, your top guys get some rest. By having to play tougher opponents all of the little hurts add up and effect performance, especially later in the season.
The LSU Bama game in November. Playing tougher opponents works against LSU and playing the cupcakes of the east helps Bama and that is not accidental given the Bama influence in the SEC office.
Is that a little clearer?

There is nothing fair about any permanent opponents. And it isn't just about Bama and Tennessee. It's isn't fair that Ole Miss gets to play Vandy or MSU gets Kentucky. It's why no other league has them.

I'm under the belief that Bama doesn't have a huge sphere of influence in the SEC office, Saban just gives great blowjobs. How else do you think the media was convinced to pick them over Okie Lite in 2011?

I should be more clear. I agree that permanent opponents shouldn't be. I want them to go away too. Rotate the east, yearly, and not a home and home. Play them in BR next year, and then at their place the next time they come around. I was just saying that if you do have a permanent, the parity is there. Oh, and that's a cool pic, I'm a Cubs fan too!

I cut out the standings in the Advocate on opening day because it had the Cubs in 1st place (via the alphabetical tie-breaker). It's still posted in my office!!
