Why not put him in the position he will excel at most in the college game and let the nfl figure out how to use him? If he does what he did last season, he’ll be an upper first round pick and get his money and can figure it out at the next level

What position is that? DE? Jack LB? Nickel? Safety?

Haason Reddick -- similar size and skills in college (47 tfls, 17.5 sacks).
1st Round Pick by the Cardinals in 2017. He had issues inside, so he asked to be moved back to edge rusher and then thrived (39.5 sacks, 13 forced fumbles).

who & who?

Not OP but I would imagine he's talking about Perk (very warranted) and maybe AA? All we heard about was how this guy is a Swiss army knife and then he's essentially done nothing the first two games.

Not playing the best? I guess that could be a reference to Nuss? But also possibly Denver.

And when free to do 'what he is good at' for a good many plays against GSU he did not influence the game.

he did. their whole gameplan was short passes screens and draws.

they averaged 5.9 yards a pass.

Sure would’ve been nice if they made this painfully obvious adjustment in game week 1

Or

Maybe our D-Line steps up and does something

IMHO, he is not an every down player yet.

I don’t think people understand how true this is. He is a great pass rusher but you can’t play on the field every play just being a pass rusher. The coaching staff was trying to figure out a way to make him an every down player and he just can’t do it.

Reddick walked on st Temple and played TB and safety initially. He RSed. Played his second season. At first STs then at DE.
Started two games in year three and was injured after that.
He started at DE his junior year, year four.
His fifth year he won all conference first string honors.

The point is it took time to grow into a DE position.

Now he is 6-1” 235 and posts OLB

Kelly has specifically addressed putting Perkins back in position to do what he does best. The numbers from GM2 back that up

Agree. They know what Perkins can do from watching one full season of him. To not know how to best use him before the FSU game is stupid. If you saw in the first quarter he wasn't impacting the game, then move him back in the second quarter. Not after you have blown it for game one. This is on House. He is a linebacker's coach for gosh sakes.

they scored 14 points in the first half

thenissue became their run game picked up in the second half and they had better balance

HR was obviously missed by recruiting evaluators. That has nothing to do with the comparison I'm making. Temple got lucky on that.
He thrived in college as an edge rusher. (At a similar size to HP.)
The position changes in the NFL mirror what HP is going through this year.

Reddick weighted in at 237 at the combine. he basically spent 5 years at Temple billing up to get to 230

if Perkins was 237 he would just be our BOLB

Haason Reddick was also a 5yr player who didn’t start until his 4th season.

That was after 5 years in college.
Look at #33. That's his second year with Temple.
He played at a similar weight to HP in college. Of course, the AAC is a much different level of football. You generally won't find players that size playing "DE" in the SEC. But it's a similar edge rusher role.
