Perfect season for LSU's expanded passing attack, and here's why.

ESPN - Breaking down each top 25 team's weakest link.

No.1 Alabama: Secondary
Alabama didn't lose just one or two defensive backs. It lost all four starters in the secondary, plus its top reserve. Oh, and it also has a new position coach in Karl Scott. -- Alex Scarborough

LSU moving to a more pass happy offense, and with a high caliber passing QB to lead it, couldn't come at a better time for the Tigers, especially with Alabama suffering its greatest losses in the secondary during Saban's tenure.

LSU and Burrow gonna rock Bama's world.

That certainly will be great, but to beat Sabama in particular, you gotta throw the ball probably 70 to 80 % of the time that night.

Bama’s front 7 has covered their terrible cb play for years. Until we get the mules on our front to stop that it will be the same story different day. I like where our Oline is at right now and the players we have coming in the future though

Bama's reserves (returnees) are better than most teams' starters

So we're only playing one game this season?

The Bama obsession goes on. Winners focus on winning and losers focus on winners. Let's get our own house in order.

It can't be said any better than that. I wish people would focus on what LSU can do better first and then worry about winning the next game in the schedule. If you must look ahead, let's break down the season in 3 game segments. The NFL players and coaches always talk about breaking down the season into 4 games at a time. Let's get these first few games and then go from there. The Bama game should be the last game anyone should be thinking about right now.

Bullshite, coaches look at what winning teams are doing around them in order to be successful and look at what are their weaknesses.

This is stupid. In order to achieve our goals we need to beat Bama. OP notes that Bama’s biggest weakness is its secondary and makes a fair observation that this could be a good year to emphasize the passing game. And then someone blasts him for bringing up Bama.

As fans, we don’t have to focus on Miami. We can look forward all we want and it doesn’t matter one bit. And there is nothing “Bamassed” about talking about ways to beat them in the fall.

That's a fair point, but IMO goes against the spirit of the thread. Of course teams look around the landscape of football for ways to improve their team. But, OP is suggesting that the season will be "perfect" because Bama is less of a team and not because LSU has improved. One game doesn't make the season no matter who the opponent is.

You're almost certainly right, but realistic expectations are also important to people. LSU hasn't been anywhere near their fans' expectations. I prefer to improve our team vs looking forward to a game in November and hoping a team gets worse.

My gripe would be more than that winning that one game would somehow make it a perfect season. There are 11 other games to consider before worrying about the most dominant team of the last few years IMO.

But still less than what we're used to.

That's why losing Surtain to them stings even more. Agreed about their front 7 but I think this year we finally have not only the players upfront to compete we have depth which we desperately needed for years!

This is like saying LSU's weak spot is the secondary. It's more of an unknown than a weak spot. Bama reloads DBs just like LSU does. We just have a better DB coach

Also, how the hell does Bama having a "weak" secondary make this the perfect season for LSU's passing attack? We have 11 other games. 3 against really good defenses and another 2 against defenses that should be on the rise.
