We could've easily lost 5 last season. Losing 3 this season certainly wouldn't shock me.

It would be a surprise to me. This team certainly has the talent in most positions to be very very good. I think defensively, LSU could be awesome.

What school doesn't have a question mark? The question isn't our problems but whether we have more problems than all the other teams with problems.

Spot on.

Sounds very reasonable. My guess is if the breaks go our way, we lose 2 or 3 games. If they don't, it could get ugly. That's a tough schedule.

I love all the positive comments. This team is a great candidate for the Bcs title and a trendy pick to win it all. I believe the hype. Say what you want but JJ is a Sr, Ware is a freak, and this is the 3rd year under Chavis. I think this defense will be incredible in the 3rd season under Chavis.

If I had a million in the bank I would be rich. If my aunt had a package, she would be my Uncle. We lost 2 last year and will be better on defense in Chavis's 3rd season with a Sr QB and Ware is a budding superback.

I think not winning the west with finally a SR qb will be a disapointment. People say we could have lost five games is stupid. I could turn around a say we could have won everygame last season.

After watching the spring game I have big concerns with the front two. I don't think either one can take on a double team and not be moved out of the way on a consistant basis. Our second team did a good job of moving them in the double team. Imagine what the starters could do? How they play will go a long way in determining what kind of defense we have. They have all summer to improve.

I thought Brockers and Freak looked great and Downs is certainly a capable DT when healthy. By all accounts Logan has stepped up as well. I hope Ego or Mickey can progress this Summer and provide some insurance if we have an injury in the 4 man DT rotation.

Having doubts about a defense that finished top 10 last season that returns essentially 8 starters and that had twice that additionally that saw significant action is irresponsible reporting. The Qb and schedule are legit concerns but Lsu will have a top 10 defense again. I like the logic as well. Bama loses 5 All Sec players on offense and these morons at Rivals don't think they will miss a beat. So let me get this straight. The guy made fun of by the media outcoaches the anointed one and then the anointed one suffers the most embarssing loss in Bama history against auburn but still gets over hyped as a coach. I see 3 losses in their future, not LSU's.

My biggest concerns are first, obviously having some kind of a pulse in the passing game and second the linebackers playing average and doing their assignments, if so the defense will be great, offense above average, and there's no way we lose more than 2. And if we lose 2, it's solely because of the schedule I believe.

The teams that scare me the most are going to be the ones we're supposed to beat such as in '07 (UK and Arky). This year those teams are Tenn, OM (Nutt has spoiled it for us before) and UK again that I believe that we have to be really cautious of.

I agree, everyone knows we have great young talent on Defense, but I think they forget how much those young guys played last year. And not only did they get significant playing time but made a significant impact and were very poised for a group of freshman.

They may be young, but they are not inexperienced.

Never said they were inexperienced, I said I think everyone forgets how much they played last year so I'm saying they are experienced.

We will be better on defense simply due to the fact that John Chavis is in his 3rd year? Sorry to break it to you, but we've pretty much seen what Chavis brings to the table. A solid defense as long as the talent is there, but certainly nothing spectacular. It's a safe vanilla scheme with a bend, don't break philosophy.

The "much improved" senior QB still went 4-14 versus the 2's in the spring game. Considering we finished right behind Air Force, and Navy, and just ahead of Georgia Tech in passing TD's last year (3 triple option teams fwiw), I'm not too excited about having a senior QB.

Ware is awesome. 1 thing I agree with.

We've improved on defense every year Chavis has been here. Look it up.

We gave up 31 touchdowns in 2010. We gave up 19 in 2009. Doesn't look like improvement to me.

But I guess Teams Like Alabama can lose these kind of players and just reload?

No one doubts Alabama and their defense..and they never doubt their Qb either..

He is spot on.
1. LSU's schedule is very strong. We could lose to both OU and WVU. WVU will likely be our first loss with their improved offense. Gino Smith will be better and those WRs are SEC caliber for sure. The good nes is we will have faced OUs O so we should be a little better against something like it and the WVU (OSU) style spread O. LSU looked bad against it for the most part last season - yeah I know we held AU to 24 points, but it certainly could have been a 35 point loss.
2. LSU has touch road games - see above, but add our SEC road games to that list including Bama, Tenn, and MSU. We will lose one of those.
3. No KS calling the D will have a huge impact. As EVERYONE on here knows, Chavis' D relies on smart LBs to call the game. KS was a "student of the game" as Chavis commented on more than one occassion. The good news is we have some very hungry pass rushers. However, if we get too hungry, teams like OU, AU, WVU and Bama will exploit that. You have to play zones and watch the delay type plays (that is why Bama is in there). They will run right at the those pass rushers.
3. The there is the question about our O. Sometimes the best D is a dominating O. Can't say that we really have seen this very much against quality teams with our Qb situation and quite frankly offensive line play. When we play a tough front 7 we struggle. With JJ playing under Coach Krag maybe we find the magic.
My prediction is exactly what this guy is saying. We could be in the hunt or we could be a Top 15 team with 2 or 3 losses.
I say we end up about 13 with losses to OU, WVU, and Bama with a few lucky breaks along the way to get there.
Such is the life in the SEC.
BTW - We still win the SEC West and play a rematch with UF.
