Sorry, didn't know you were all so sensitive, did not mean to trigger you all.
Look, I don't like CPM and think this program deserves better. The CWS was so hard to watch and it was crystal clear that he was out coached in most games.
Case and point- How can any player on a D1 team, much less LSU, not be able to bunt when needed?

This doesn't have anything to do with the CWS appearance?

How does this belong in the Eric Walker to miss 2018 thread?

Even then, since we still aren't really sure what the cause of this type of injury is, there is no telling if rest (even for a year) would have prevented it.
There is no chance in hell that this wouldn't have resurfaced at some point. He was going to have TJ surgery before he left LSU and his body probably determined that at some point before the CWS.
I can tell you from experience that it's not something that goes away.

For frick's sake.

He was going to be a starter no matter what.

And I got blasted for saying it was a bad decision to start him knowing his arm was bothering him.

Except he stated it wasn't bothering him. So you should have been blasted.

You can't put your best arm talent and guy with the nastiest stuff in a role where you might not pitch him in a weekend. He has to be in a higher leveraged role than closer.
Now it is possible he won't be able to translate to a starter and closer becomes his role, but you have to give being a starter the first shot.

quote:What exactly was "known" before the CWS start? That he had discomfort during one outing and it wasn't there the next outing... according to Eric. You'd be crying too if we didn't throw him at all during the CWS after the kid said he was 100% healthy and we lost those last two games.

What about the end of the regular season, when we won enough games to finish first in the west and tied for the lead in the SEC?
What about the SEC Tournament that LSU won?
What about the regional that LSU won?
What about the Super Regional that LSU won in 2 games?
What about the CWS, where LSU won their side of the bracket and advanced to the finals?

Do you really believe that ever D1 college baseball player can lay down a bunt every single time they wish? You can't really be that stupid....

You should've been blasted, because according to him, his arm was fine until the 3rd inning of his CWS start.

That take belongs with the sit Chinea and sit Deichman at the beginning of the year dust bin of history.

Definitely. Hess clearly has the most electric stuff. If it can translate over 6-7 innings an outing, I like the 1-2 punch with him and Gilbert. Hopefully someone between Peterson and Bush steps up. I really liked what Bush showed against UF in relief.
