How many times does it have to be said. This is not the kind of 3-4 that needs huge space eaters in the middle. His 3-4 uses guys who penetrate up front, not guys who eat up blockers. This is not Bama's 3-4. I know that is gonna disappoint some people.

In Coach Aranda we trust.

It's certainly going to be a different look. It seems weird to me to move someone as good as Key off the end, and Godchaux out of the middle. However, the D needed a change and Coach Aranda knows what he's doing.

I do like the idea of a 6'5" 250lb OLB. Bowers size alone will have guys in the slot and running crossing routes taking their eyes off the ball.

I like the move, we need some meat at the OLB position to help set the edge.

Bower was solid against the rush.

Is this move a surprise. Once we knew we were going to 3-4, I just assumed Bower and Key would be at OLB.

we don't have the typical sized DL for a 3-4 scheme. Glad we

We have Gilmore,Herron, and Lawrence to rotate in though which are some big mfers.

Gilmore is 6-4 311
Herron is 6-5 around 300

Then you have Lawrence and Logan coming in.

My thoughts exactly. The question that remains, however, is this: Which OLB spot will he be occupying?
• Didn't we already expect him to move to the Jack (OLB/DE) position with Arden Key?
• Or has has moved to the Sam position to compete with Corey Thompson, Duke Riley, and Michael Divinity?

I think once a Aranda got here and saw the type of athletes he had to work with on defense. He probably thought to himself, I would coach these guys for free just to prove how badass my defense is

Not the same Wisconsin form years ago. Last year they didnt even run for 2000 yards as a team. Their leading rusher didnt have 1000 yards and averaged 4.2 yards per carry.

So you mean no more 215 lb. oversized safeties at LB anymore? I don't know if I can handle this!

Bower in coverage would be terrible. If he's being moved to OLB it's because of the scheme as he'll be used as a rushing LB off the edge.

Very well said. I like how we do it though. When I think of Bama defense I just envision a brick wall. Tough to move the ball in general. When I enision us, I just think of guys flying all over the place and causing havoc. May give up more yards, especially on the ground, but hopefully have more sacks and turnovers. They will be more stout vs power (like our offense ), but we won't be as vulnerable to spread like they are cause we are quicker and smaller (like the rest of college football's offenses).
