I sent you a quote I got from a guy tonight, extremely more reasonable than I thought

The airport is just a few miles from Lambeau. If you have lodging within an hour in any direction Green Bay seems most appropriate. The airport is tiny and very easy to traverse.
If I were going I would go to Green Bay airport.
ETA I think Chicago is the worst airport I've traveled to and from with respect to delays and cancellations.

Going by myself as well. My friends are lame. Have hotel reservations in Appleton Friday and Saturday night, but now I'm thinking about checking out the Cubs game that Friday after reading this thread. Still figuring out flight plans and will wait for game tickets to closer to kickoff.
Did we just become best friends?

Chicago Wednesday night. Driving up Thursday morning to play golf at whistling straits. Staying in GB until Sunday, returning car in GB and flying home from there.

Driving up to Green Bay friday night after coaching HS football in Madison. Looking forward to some friday night bar scene with LSU folks.
Saturday tailgate all day at the stadium. This is a night game likely.Sunday will be church and fishing time.
Safe travels everyone. You got a few too many tickets allotted, but it should be a great atmosphere. The drive from Milwaukee to Green Bay is fairly ugly, boring. Prettiest parts of the state are northern and western third, although the lake michigan shoreline is good also.
Hope LSU comes in top 5 or ranked #1 even.

If anything, we didn't get enough tickets allotted.

Hey Guys, I was born and raised in Green Bay, walking distance from Lambeau Field, and I'll be heading up for this game as well.
Happy to help answer any questions you might have about the stadium, getting to and from it from wherever, things to do in town or in Madison, Milwaukee, or elsewhere.
A few things I noticed when reading through the six pages...
- There is no train from Chicago to Green Bay, it only gets you to Milwaukee
- Traffic on gameday coming in will be bad (especially coming north from Sheboygan/Milwaukee) and Northeast from the Fox River Valley (Appleton/Oshkosh)..it'll be worse after the game heading out of town
- I would suggest having a DD, as the cops know a lot of people will be driving and they'll be out in force
-The area directly to the east of the stadium (Holmgren Way...get it?) has added a bunch of great gameday options. Think beer tents with live bands, big bars pretty well equipped to handle gameday crowds
- Tailgating in the Lambeau Parking lot and in the yards around the stadium is great and not all that expensive - you can probably park close for $30 or so
Any other questions, feel free to ask. I'll check back and answer as many as I can.

Have you seen Making a Murderer on Netflix? You pass right through the county when driving from Milwaukee to GB. Don't fret a ticket. They can frame you for much worse!

There is a hell of a slate of games that Saturday, so I'd say 50/50.
And yeah, I've seen it. Manitowoc (lots of towns/cities with Native American names in the 'Scons) was in our conference in high school. It's not a bad town, those were just bad people.

Trying to decide about hotels in Milwaukee. Is it worth it to stay downtown? What about the casino just off from downtown?

Downtown Milwaukee is a lot of fun, so I'd recommend it if its not breaking the bank. Hit the bars on Water St, the art museum, brewery tours (the tour at Lakefront Brewery is supposed to be good, though it's a bit north of downtown)...
I don't think there's a whole heck of a lot by the casino within walking distance. Marquette University, but that campus sucks.

Flying into Milwaukee from Houston. Staying at Brewhouse Inn on Thursday and then Appleton on Friday/Saturday nights.

Milwaukee can be done in a day, but if you are looking for things to do the Harley Davidson museum is very cool, and I am in no way shape or form a motorcycle person. Lots of historic bikes and put into the context of Americana/history.
