But if you are saying that we are in better hands now, then Wade's resume 5 years ago is irrelevant. You have to ask is McMahon better today than Wade is today. You're comparing apples to oranges.

ETA. It's not surprising that you're using a double standard. If McMahon doesn't have the same success Wade had over the next 5 years, those that think Woody can do no wrong will have every excuse in the book why McMahon should not be held to the standard that Wade set over the last 5 years.

Same. Same.

Wherever CWW goes, he’ll have my support. He was fun and jump started this program from irrelevancy to fun. Some of y’all vastly underappreciate what he did.

Long live tPear.

Well that bar is not very high. All he has to do is NOT get involved in an FBI investigation.

Would’ve guessed older

I’d guess this board’s average age is late 30s-early 40s, totally capable of enjoying Seinfeld during it’s original run.

Anyway it’s a moot point because your original post said 90% of this board wouldn’t get the Penske joke while the actual joke post was massively upvoted

So that's how you judge the success of the basketball program. Also, what is your basis that he was "involved" in an FBI investigation, because he talked on the phone to a guy the department of justice decided to go after (for apparently committing a "crime" that had no victim).

The standard is NCAA tournament 4 out of 5 years. Finishing top 4 in the conference more often than not. Competing for SEC regular season and tournament championships.

This is how I judge the success of the basketball program, and not whether people like Pat Forde and Vitale said mean things about him.

Well I was being facetious, but the point stands.

You have an agenda. You emphasize his strong points and minimize his weak points.

Pardon me for being adult and evaluating the whole package.

Going to the NCAA tournament every year is worth a few bad newspaper clippings or tweets...

But it’s fair to say McMahon isn’t as good when he hasn’t coached a game yet?

I’ll take my chances that McMahon will have a very good resume by year 5.
The only fair comparison one came make at this juncture is to look at resumes pre LSU. McMahon wins that one by a lot. Let’s see where we are in 5 years and then we can compare tenures at LSU

ellessuuuu is correct. LSUMBB is about finishing top 4 in the SEC and making the NCAA Ty. WW made it that way despite his flaws. MM will be successful if he can continue that trend. Note: I will give MM this upcoming season just like I "gave" WW his first season.

I’m sure Coach McMahon will be fine.

I supported Wade and I support McMahon. McMahons resume blows Wades away coming in the door so there’s every reason to be confident

Absolutely not and I never said that. I’m all about giving McMahon a chance to maintain and build on the success we’ve had under Wade. And I agree his resume is much better than Wade’s coming in. Of course, he’s got more years under his belt as a coach. By the way, you can thank Wade for having a program that can attract a name like McMahon. 5 years ago, we were not getting a Naismith finalist at LSU.

I’m frustrated with the way our athletic administration blew up the end of last season and, by default, the roster we would have had for 22-23. They used the “cloud of negativity” crap to fire Wade and then turned around and said we’re going to defend against the allegations. It’s BS, if you’re going to defend against the allegations - which you should - you stick by the coach that rebuilt your program, regardless of your personality preferences.

ETA. If you go back to the original statement I responded to was someone saying we’re in better hands now than we were with Wade. To make that comparison, you have to look at Wade now, not 5 years ago. McMahon isn’t walking into a program that won 10 games last year.

Maybe so, I wasn't calling for his head. But I do not know what went down between everyone involved. Did he lie to them? Were they surprised by something in the final NOA?

Either way, I'll wait to see how the new guy does before pitching a fit.

Same. I just hate that he was so stupid.
