Yet all the media pundits act like a win over Penn State will vault them to #1?

What does the spread have to do with pundits opinions of where they'd go with a win? They would be in the driver seat to win the Big Ten if they beat Ohio State* but that's it

Edit: Read this completely wrong, ignore me lol

Because it goes to show Penn state isn’t good and they are suppose to be the 2nd best team in the big 10

I mean they have been the most complete team so far. I don't think they have played a schedule like ours but they haven't stumbled at all this year. It isn't ridiculous to say that they are a better team overall. I could understand if they put OSU at #1 if they blow out Penn St.

I still like Burrow vs them though. We didn't score massive points against Auburn but still moved the ball and I think we have gotten better on offense since that game. Edit: I use Auburn because of their strong defensive line.

No matter what though, the defense needs to start showing up.

I don't think Penn St is very good. They should have lost to Pitt earlier this season, but Pitt screwed it up. I'd love for them to upset Ohio St, but I doubt it's very close.

Haven't you heard? Beating No. 8 Penn State at home is more impressive than beating No. 3 Alabama on the road. It's even more impressive when you compare where they will both be ranked after their losses, because beating 2-loss No. 12 or so Penn State is a stronger win than No. 5 Alabama.

ETA: I don't think this will be lost on the committee. The talking heads are just playing devils advocate to garner views and clicks.

If Ohio State easily blows out Penn State and we dont look sharp once again this weekend I could definitely see them jumping us. If we continue to give reason not looking like the #1 team in the country and Ohio State does, well dont get that upset...

Bet all of your money on PennSt. And then find more to bet on Penn St moneyline. They will cover and have a great chance at winning. This will come down to coaching and Penn St has the better one.

Don't understand them jumping LSU if LSU won also. Makes no sense to me. LSU 's schedule is alot stronger than OSU's. Their big victory came against a one dimensional Badgers team at home while LSU beat Bama,UF,AU.

LSU likely will have the best chance to stay #1 in the end. They are playing a virtual road game against a Top 4 Georgia team in the SEC Championship game.

Seriously? Franklin is a horrible game day coach.

If LSU goes undefeated and beats #4 Georgia in the SEC Championship, LSU will finish as a 1 seed. Regardless of what happens after this weekend.

There is only one way to settle this debate. We will see them on the field on Jan 13th.

OSU better not take Penn St lightly. This is there last chance to make a statement after being embarrassed in Minnesota.

----Not to mention #9 Auburn, #9 Texas and #7 Florida

i think the point is that if OSU wins the rest of their games, they will have defeated Penn State, Michigan, and Minnesota—all “quality wins”.

We will have defeated UGA—not sure if A&M would count as quality win after UGA beats them this week.

With them being #2 now, I could see the committee putting them ahead of us if it plays out that way.

I dont really care, we’ll have to beat whoever we play if we get to the playoffs. And of course A&M and UGA before that can even happen.

In all fairness, he’s the only coach between the two teams anyone had heard of prior to this year.

Exactly. Aside from completely dominating their remaining opponents, OSU will not jump LSU.
