Then why not run the 3-4 until you get the right pieces in place to run your preferred defense?
I'm sure O pushed for the switch to 4-3...

Pushed for it? It's WHY he hired Pelini. O had dreams of Russell Maryland, Warren Sapp, Leonard Williams living in an opponent's backfield destroying plays. One problem. LSU doesn't have ANYONE close to that level among the DL this year. So to think that all of a sudden the returners from last season would become those types of players was naïve, bordering on stupid. Now, that's not to say LSU wouldn't get there eventually. But not this season. Which is why the desire to switch to the 4-3 lock, stock and barrel was asinine.
Play the scheme that fits your talent first. Then, if you want, recruit the talent to fit your scheme

O is good and bashing everyone else to keep the heat off of him.
O never seems to have the backs of the people he works with (including the players).

At this point, who cares?? Just fix the damn problems and put this train back on track

Oh he backs em alright, which I pray isn't true on his behalf

Thats not really the point. The point is that they are publicly disagreeing with each other. It’s embarrassing and shows they’re not on the same page.
Right.
Orgeron needs Saban's policy. Assistants don't talk to media.

The two people responsible for the defense can't even agree on what the problems are. It's hard to come up with a solution if you can't identify the problems correctly.

Ima go with Bo on this one Coach O lost me when he said " Our defense has looked better than any part of last year "

I guess I'll defer to the guy who hasn't called a defense in 13 years over the guy who hasn't called a defense ever.

dumpster. fire.

It goes both ways. Busted coverage is on the secondary to know what they're doing and get their assignments right, but, a lack of interior pass rush due to having mostly 3-4 DT's will give opposing QB's too much time in the pocket. They are both right to an extent.
I lean more towards not having spring football as the biggest reason for the defense decline. LSU needed those weeks to get the LB group sorted out and to get the DB's up to speed, particularly the safeties. Vincent would have helped immensely in the secondary, there's no denying that he was a big loss.

Does O agree with any other coach besides Ensminger? Doesn't seem like it.

I been ragging on Pelini since week 1 but it’s refreshing to hear him say this and acknowledge the root issue. It was never going to be an overnight transition like O thought it was.
Gotta at least respect him admitting this and not blaming it on players, effort, attrition, covid, etc.

I definitely get that. Rouge asked why not run the 3-4 until you have the personnel and I was simply stating that O probably wanted to convert to the 4-3 as soon as Aranda was gone.
