New DC with a new scheme, and the team had had little to no spring practices to implement the scheme or learn the intracies of it. It's much easier to install and run an Offense especially when you have Spring through Summer time for practices and spending time with the analysts.

Due to Covid, this year's team is behind and struggling to understand the new defensive schemes, terminology, and coverage.

Guess who else didn't have a full spring and a new system to implement? Mississippi State and Missouri.

ETA: And those teams don't have nearly the talent we have. I don't care what way you slice it. This offseason was a complete disaster for Coach O and Pelini

Well to be fair both of their defenses looked like garbage too

Nonetheless, I certainly see your point

LSU shouldn’t be losing to these teams, period.

To OP: I disagree. LSU should get rid of Bo ASAP

It's one thing to be confused, but the effort has been poor. Also, Missouri has not even close to the same talent level as LSU, along with their new head coach, and missing players due to COVID. Not to mention, everyone didn't have a spring

It would be one thing if we were struggling a little on D but yesterday looked like a Lou Tepper performance.

A little time? Three games in and the defense looks so lost it’s pathetic.
Bye bye Bo....

If Alabama and Georgia had each put up 600 yards against our defense, you might have somewhat of an argument - although very weak. But we’re talking about the bottom dwellers of the SEC. The two teams that beat us are a combined 0-4 and look atrocious - other than their Al-Pro/Hall of Fame performances they put up against Bo Tepper's defense.

This spring thing is bullshite. They didn't play until late September. They had more practice time than they normally get.

This defense has to improve a lot just to get to Tepper level.

A new scheme is understandable if it’s just a few mistakes. But giving up SEC records to a QB that just got benched is more than a “new scheme”.

The 3 teams we've played are bottom 5 in the league. I'd put us in that group too.

We are the worst team in the West right now there's no other way to put it. Just mind blowing stuff. Reminds me of Texas TBH.
