Ticket costs, parking, concessions are out of control in both college and pro sports.
Squeezing the regular family and middle class out of the "privilege". Some of the people with the most passion are starting to be left outside the stadiums.

It's definitely happening. From LSUsports:
Beginning with the 2011 LSU football season, there will be a charge to park in most lots west of Highland Road on the LSU campus on football game days in order to provide additional services to fans and to offset financial losses caused by budget cuts to the University.

Yet people still want to bitch when our facilities aren't first rate. People want it both ways, but simple economics doesn't work that way.

See other post on board.. Makes everything pretty clear.

Its getting ridiculous.
Many tailgaters on old golf course. Pay $20 to park car plus another $50 to park a utility trailer. Thats $70 per game just for a spot to tailgate not to mention anything else.
This will greatly influence the number of people who come just to tailgate and go home to watch the game or watch the game at a tailgate.

1) I have no doubt this was an intended consequence by LSU. Less people = less traffic = less trash.
2) I'm not so sure it's really a bad thing

Which is fine because it will result in less trash clean-up to begin with, something LSU has reiterated is a huge problem following every single game this year. naturally you'll say "but I clean" or "but there weren't enough trash cans supplied to me" or some other excuse.

considering cleanup costs, that may be part of why.....
a reduction of traffic and an increase in mass transit from downtown could also be a goal....
how will this affect the mudgate?

Butch, we damn well know the tailgates that trash LSU's campus. This has little impact on them.
I'm well aware of LSU's waste management budget for Gameday. However, I will say those making the decisions need to come out on gamedays and walk around campus. Poor planning all around to say the least.
Mudgate will be smaller for sure. Most of the group come to tailgate watch the game at home or at the tailgate. Our area is not even serviced and we pick up 100% of the trash on the area.
Butch, the same group you had problems with during the Bama game are one of 4 groups who totally trash the parade grounds. I encourage you to drop the hammer on them. I found it dispicable they can say racially charged remarks when recruits and parents are the next row over. Their trashing campus has lead LSU to this mess.
The Baton Rouge economy will suffer from this to say the least.

I'm most interested to see how this will affect the areas of campus that are not pay to park. You have to think a fair amount of tailgating groups will migrate there, thus increasing the volume in these areas.
Should lead to even more bitching and moaning on the Rant next year!

And those areas are not serviced by LSU's trash can people nor the cleaning crews.
It will spread out the tailgate trash cleanup instead of condensing it to a more manageable area.

I just hope people will WRITE THE LSU ADMINISTRATION AND NOT just talk about it in a b.s.-ing way to friends and others.
