Paul was a good coach, probably should have had 2 WS wins instead of 1. But college baseball is way more competitive now than in the 90s. Way more programs investing in the sport makes it harder to win multiple titles

CPM is a fine coach. His downfall was recruiting.Especially the last 3-5 years. CJJ will run circles around PM in recruiting.

Those bats today are NOT the same as 2010 or whenever BBCore came in. They have way more flex. Plus the balls are harder and have flatter seams…

The pitching staff this year is an excellent example of how far down recruiting had gone with CPM. Most of these young pitchers would have not been recruited in CPM’s early years. The only legitimate weekend
starter, Hilliard, was recruited several years ago. Pitching deficiencies put this team behind the eight ball before CJJ set foot on campus. CJJ had to try and piece it together.

What’s worse is an entire generation of LSU fan watched his failures and grew up thinking that was greatness. The reason our fans fawn over mediocrity in baseball now is because of CPM.

The pitching myth is one of the biggest shared delusions to ever be created on the rant. This year is probably the deepest pen LSUs ever had and we had enough starting talent, Willow just fricked it up 7 ways til Sunday from jump street. Now I’m not supposed to say that and JJs secret service will be here shortly to drown me in attacks but it’s true.

Ehhh debatable.
Even if so, we have no starters. You can say we had the starters to hang. But if you’re being honest with yourself, we didn’t.
If you leave this team intact as is, and give us two at least above average F/S starters, we finish atop the sec west. And we are playing in a super regional this weekend. This ain’t hard to see. Just hard for some to accept.

Debatable sure so let’s just say deep. With the starters he made poor choices to start the season and made poor decisions to get the rotation corrected as we went along. It’s not any more complicated than that.
