Paul Mainieri job security

There seem to be a ton of post calling for Mainieri to be fired. Admittedly, I'm not a huge LSU baseball fan, so I don't necessarily think my opinion carries much weight one way or the other on that topic. However, I was curious and looked at his contract. Holy shite! He may have more job security at LSU than any of the big 3 coaches. His contract runs through 2024 and he just received a 50% raise last season. I don't think O's contract runs through 2024. I think Wade's may, but he hasn't even coached a game at LSU.
Bottom line, it seems like we would be looking at, at least, 3 years before any "fire Mainieri" could become even remotely real.

I agree, Mainieri's seat is as cold as ice. The problem is somehow, Joe Alleva allowed himself to be duped again by another "job offer" from another school so he panicked and gave the world to the head coach. Alleva should have called Miles bluff to Arkansas, and how could the moron not learn from his mistakes and not call Mainieri's bluff to Texas?
Maineri is here to stay, and we'll keep sucking in the postseason.

Just checking in to see how bad the melt is this morning... this was the first thread... I am not disappointed.

Just out of curiosity, when is the correct time to melt?

He isn't going any where any time soon

Do you need an exact date or what?

No, just wondering at what point is it okay to be disappointed in the baseball team's performance. Somehow the LSU fan base has been brainwashed into thinking that winning big at baseball is all luck. If that's true, why the contract extension and pay raise for the baseball staff? Why not just hire the next schmuck and hope that baseball fortune breaks his way in the postseason against Central Arkansas. Those guys would probably be a tough out, you know, because this ain't the 1990s and college baseball has parity.

Now? I'm disappointed and discouraged. I think all anyone is saying is that it's too early to throw in the towel. Well maybe Russian isn't disappointed, but other than that, I think it's pretty prevalent.

No doubt. LSU is in good shape in the SEC and has plenty of time for a strong push towards a top 8 seed.
I'm just now in a Missouri state of mind as it comes to Paul Maineiri teams. I won't actually believe you can win in the postseason until you "show me". Until then I'll keep expecting home postseason losses or quick exits in Omaha.

Maybe when the season is over or at the very least the middle of May.

It isn't and it does.

Maybe it was Alleva who cheaped out when it came to hiring a hitting coach? Can't believe Gibbs was the best we could do, even given the short time we had to make a hire. I mean I'm sure there are solid hitting coaches at mid-majors who would have given their left arm to come here.

Yep. He's not going anywhere any time soon.
He's a good coach. Competition is getting tougher each year.
I just don't see this team getting a Top 8 seed this year.
Looks like a Regional host to me.

He sucks and we gave him the longest contract in LSU history.
Because Texas would have taken him off our hands? We should have given him 50% raise to leave!

He's a future Hall of Fame coach...so he doesn't "suck".
Just not meeting all expectations.

He's not ready but I'd get the McNeese coach in a second

Lose to UL and the hotseat will move from simmer to double jet crawfish burner hot!
Posted on 3/29/17 at 9:19 am to daberryballer
He wouldn't be on the hot seat unless he doesn't turn this season around and he won't be fired unless he has another bad year next year maybe. Right or wrong that's just what it would take to get rid of him.
