re: Paul Mainieri is one of the main reasons Hampton is leaving LSU

Read his 2007 draft report. Guess that’s not factual enough for you.
here is his draft report from milb.com
Look at this and tell me what position he's listed as
LINK
He was drafted in the 13th round out of high school as an outfielder

Chad Jones was a pitcher PM put into the outfield.
He was both in high school. He was recruited to play outfield, not pitch. Him being able to pitch for us was a bonus.

Beloso had also been getting plenty of reps in LF.
Yes, he was penciled in as a starter. Thxs, I had forgotten about that.

You must vote Dem bc you didn’t paste the entire report. You know damn well it comments on his left handed pitching ability. Y’all must be a bout of 20 and 30 year olds who think college baseball at LSU started in 96.

Literally the only mention of pitching:

quote:
Arm Strength: Also a pitcher, Jones' outfield arm grades out as average.

Just another proof that for 99% of the athletes, playing for two sports in college level while maintaining a healthy GPA academically is just too much of a stretch. Had Hampton stuck with one sport from the get-go, I feel like we would be seeing a much different story here. Just unfortunate.

This has to be an elaborate troll. Well done sir.
Otherwise you can’t seriously be referring to the one comment that mentions him as a pitcher in the context of grading his arm strength as an outfielder, as part of report that grades him strictly as an outfielder.

Didn't need to. You said...

Chad Jones was a pitcher PM put into the outfield. He didn’t use him at his natural position for whatever reason.
It shows right there in the chart that he was an outfielder.
The best part is that you linked the same report to try to prove that he was a pitcher that Mainieri moved to the outfield even though the entire report breaks him down as an outfielder.

To me Hampton's best chance at getting playing time while he was removing the rust from his swing was as a pinch runner. He can fly.
But then again the first time he was inserted as a pinch runner this season was in the opening series Louisiana Tech game.
He went in to run for Travinski after Hayden singled to load the bases in the 5th inning.
Crews followed Travinski's hit with a single and Hampton almost made it to third base before he looked up and saw Jordan Thompson already standing on third base.
Hampton was thrown out in a run down between second and third base.
The lunch guys on the radio commented that Hampton had become stiffer and had some speed. It was Rantz and Hanny.
You can check the tape to get their exact comments.

I am a-hole. I pointed out that PM waited until Auburn to give him a chance. The response was he was an outfielder, not a pitcher. I pointed out he actually pitched a hood bit and again it was rebuffed. Now that I have accurately pointed out that he pitched enough in high school to not only warrant comment on his 2007 draft report , but to also be LISTED on the report as OF/LHP y’all want to resort back to second grade name calling. Some of you can’t handle being factually incorrect. You feel it , so you must be tight. Sounds like most of the 30 somethings that work for me.

Except that it doesn’t list him as anything other than an OF.
Why would you lie about this? You literally linked the report yourself. Why make up something so easily disproven by your own link?

you can't tell me he should be behind Bianco in paying time.
For the love of holy baseball... they don't play the same positions. Why is this comparison continuing to be made.

But he wasn't listed as that on the report that you linked. He was only listed as an outfielder.

no it doesn't.
it says "also a pitcher"
and doesn't say a damn word about his ability at the position good or bad.

I wonder how many high school draft prospects also pitched for their high school team? I have to imagine it’s quite a few.
