I'm critical of Mainieri's in-game management, often, and don't always agree with his roster decisions, either. But this one isn't on him. Hampton was clearly way behind, and this move is not at all surprising to me. The only thing that would have kept him here, is if he were good enough at football to hang around, and maybe one day crack the lineup in baseball. But the football thing wasn't working out, then he quit football, and was still no closer to beating anyone out in the lineup.

With his purported talent, of which, we really haven't seen yet, I did not expect him to make it through the season without transferring to some place where he can actually play. He isn't owed playing time here just because he supposedly has talent. He's a good athlete. That's really about all I have seen from him.

However, Bianco got into CF vs TS and UNO and Mo didn’t see any PT. I wonder if that was the camel that broke the straw

I’m sure he’s tired of being passed over by Mainieri’s pet project that no one has any clue why he’s playing and was in the transfer portal himself in the last year.

I will say Bianco's Dad had the same feelings toward 2 sport athlete Jerion Ealy down at Ole Miss. 2 sport guys don't have chance. I would have liked to see it done. Murray did it.he ultimately chose football.

And Murray hit sub .150 his first season at Oklahoma. Completely different level of programs, conferences, and competitiveness from the other two. They could afford to let him play through it and accept the risk for a possible payoff in subsequent years.

Please link something that says PM ran him off. Everything I’ve read says he left because he wasn’t getting a chance to play. HUGE difference there

It’s almost impossible to do at schools like OM & LSU that attract the talent they do. When other guys work all offseason the coaches will favor that. Unless you can roll out of bed & be an all American. That ain’t Hampton

I’m mad at my son who spilled his chicken minis as soon as I handed them to him. Wanna join me?

Sounds like Paul was honest with him.
Most fans know its almost impossible to balance two sports in college.

So Hamilton should have been playing shortstop? I had to look this up myself because I was wrong but Bianco has zero starts in the outfield this year. He has been used as a defensive replacement late in games at times but he wasn’t taking away at bats from Hampton.

Sanford, Safford, and Drost are the three guys he was competing with once Gio got hurt.

Yeah, this “first round talent” talk is ridiculous. Dylan Crews is a first round talent in the outfield. Does Hampton look like that?

How about Andrew Stevenson ? No way Mo has more potential than AS actually SHOWED in college, and AS was not a first rounder.
