Do you not understand the difference in a coach being fired and a coach that retired?
Also CPM has been handling all recruiting since Cain left should he not discuss with the new coach where everything stands?

You’d think after Les ran us into the ground and it was shown that we kept him for about a decade too long for based on both on and off field behavior and performance that folks would start to realize that building or succumbing to a cult of personality surrounding a coach (ie-making them a sacred cow that rises above their own love or support for a program) is foolish and never need happen again.
This goes both ways. The pure hatred some people have for a coach of a sports team that they root for and someone they will more than likely never meet makes no sense either.

We need to move on. Jay Johnson needs to find his own path.
What competent new coach would come in and NOT visit with the retired coach? Only an incompetent coach would nto realize that value of that type of visit.

Pure hatred? Life’s too short to hate anyone.
But ready to move on? Absolutely. Paul needs to step away. Pure and simple.

This is so dumb. Just dumb
I can't imagine an adult not realizing the old personnel help ease the transition.

All you haters can lump it. CPM has already said that he will stay far in the background & give advice only when asked. Does any rationale supporter think Johnson does not appreciate having him around??

He’s gotta love the Box better than that giant lightning rod in Tucson. They had like 60% of the stadium filled for their super.

They didn’t host a super this year
Edit: I’m dumb. I was thinking of someone else.

Yes they did. They hosted Ole Miss.

Exactly. Ya know... not really my business. To each his own, but how does anyone watch that video and get aggravated with CPM? The man is being graceous to the program and the next coach. WTF?

It's very important that Paul stays connected, not from a coaching standpoint but to ease the transition for Johnson with current players, recruiting, etc on a personal level. We cannot afford to just build from scratch - we need to win early and often, and that would be quite difficult at the SEC level without keep the core intact. Johnson just needs to know that he cannot and should not follow Paul's lead with regards to managerial decisions.

This is silly. This doesn’t affect coaching. It’s the same game of baseball.

My same thought first rule of his recruiting, said player has to be at least 3” taller than coach
