He really had an excellent career. Not GOAT career. I’m not sure Skip had a Goat career tbh. Augie would be the GOAT careerwise. Win totals and rings equaling Skip at 2 different schools.
Skip had 5. Augie had 5. It’s close though. Rod Dedeaux won 11 if we’re going strictly off titles without considering the era and parity of the sport at the time.

I think the venom comes from it being PAST time to move on.
Not hating on the guy, just wish he’d retired sooner after the 2017 runner up finish.
He seems like a genuinely decent guy.

Not as a HC he did. I didn’t say just rings. Augie had 1900+ wins and until 2019 had the rd off until Martin broke it.
That is 500 more wins than Paul. That’s how impressive Augie was and the fact that he did it AFTER the final series was implemented, that was pretty impressive.
Hell, without the heroics of DJ in the 9th, Paul would have zero and Augie would have 6.

Fat fingers. I meant 5. If you wanna play the “if” game Skip has another title if the wind doesn’t suddenly change direction and blow straight in against USC when they had to beat us twice in ‘98. Also Augie stacked up a lot of wins playing in a weak conference at Cal State Fullerton and was a head coach for almost 50 years. Skip was a head coach for 18. Imagine how many titles and games he would’ve won in 40+. It’s also well known that Skip actually coached those Miami teams while Frasier was more of a fundraiser/face of the program. My reply to you had nothing to do with Paul btw.

Mainieri will never truly be apprefiated for his run from 2008-2017. That decade of success will be hard to match

Here, little girl, hold my beer for a minute...

It was a 20yr reunion of their run to the CWS. I didn't care for him in his later years but your statement is douche.

Paul ran this elite baseball program into the ground

In my BPB tenure, 2017 has probably been my favorite team so far. They were hated in March, but ended up winning the SEC, and came so close to winning it all.

Paul built an elite baseball program and took his foot off the gas the last few years

You sorry fricks bagging on Mainieri… I hope you all wind up in a ditch. The guy was FANTASTIC at LSU. Your retarded take on him being bad is really an indictment or your stupidity. Go fricking cheer for someone else ya bunch of posers.

He admittedly did that after 2009 too. Paul gave us a lot, but it was time to move on.

No surprise he hitched his wagon to ND this week
What does this even mean?

As far as your logic, it wasn’t “widely known”. You heard that crap on a program about LSU in Hold the Rope. I actually watched all those games when they were happening in Omaha.
The fact remains that Augie coached in a a time out west when the teams were MUCH BETTER than the SEC and had a harder road get to Omaha due to always keeping games regional so teams didn’t have to travel as far.
That is a fact.
He went to the Big 10 and won 2 conference titles at Illinois and the Big 12 and won 6 of those conference titles. He took 2 schools to Omaha and won titles when he had to win a series for one those championships which Skip said was much harder to do.
And he retired the all time winningest coach in college baseball history.

Go back to having fake sources nerd. Nobody gives a shite about your Augie Garrido takes.

Frazier wasn't the coach in 1996.
