If you think it's even slightly reasonable to compare Deion and Peterson, please post your age.

If you think Revis is a better CB than Deion, please kill yourself.

If you think Magic would get owned in today's NFL, please kill yourself immediately so as to ensure your genes are not passed on, but only after killing your father for raising such an idiot.

Woodson was not a better cover corner than Sanders. If I had one elite receiver I needed covered for an entire game I would pick Sanders over any other corner. I am not saying Woodson wasn't an overall better player as far as being a complete defensive back, but Sanders was the best cover corner ever. It's all about preference. What do you want in a cornerback? My preference is covering ability and ball skills over tackling.

Sanders is the best "cover corner" in NFL history.

Sanders is arguably the best return man in NFL history.

PP has yet to play in the NFL. I think Sanders is better, but PP if able to stay healthy has a chance to be a top 10 CB in the NFL of all time.

rod woodson was a better football player than Deion. He may not have been as good of an athlete, but his instincts were off the chart

Go watch the 49's eat his arse up. Those games were priceless. When he played against the best "his toe hurt" or some lame arse excuse.

Pp will never be as good as a prime time. He is too lean he gets dehydrated too easy he will sit 1 quarter of every game because of cramps

the problem of comparing Peterson to Deon is that Peterson was made to play Safety. He is a natural born safety playing cornerback. Gale Sayers, OJ Simpson, Bo Jackson, and Eric Dickerson could have been all pro cornerbacks, or wide recievers, or safeties, but they played their natural position of Running Back. PP could have been an all time great RB or safety, but for some reason is playing CB, which he is be very good at, can be an all pro at. But it is to late to be a running back so he needs to shift to the running back position of the defense, which is safety. He can go down as one of the all time greats, maybe the greatest, if he is switched to the position for which he is most suited for , which is safety. He is big , strong, fast, good instincts and cover skills. But half his strengths are wasted at cornerback. Put him in the middle of the field, where he belongs, and let him dominate sideline to sideline. Come up stong in the middle and crush the run. Cover deep over the top. CB is a very important and coveted position, but don't downplay the importance of a truely dominant Safety. An elite safety is the ultimate enforcer on the defensive side of the ball. And PP has everything it takes to be right there with Ed Reed, Troy Polomoulo, and Ronnie Lott (but with better cover skills than any of them) as one of the greatest ever, if not the best ever.

Right. Most notably the thanksgiving game in which he would have been going against Moss he didn't bother to suit up.

Moss would have fricking destroyed Sanders

Moss was drafted in 1998. That was Sanders' NINTH YEAR in the league. Sanders' career for all intents and purposes ended in 2000 and injuries had added up well before that.

Before that, in his prime, Sanders was absurd. Baily has NEVER been in his class and Revis MAY one day be in the argument. NEITHER of those guys have make up speed like Sanders had.

Can you find film of Sanders getting beat? Well of course. You can find film of EVERY CB in history getting beat. You can also find A LOT of film in which the team Sanders played on ran a defense that amounted to "Sanders, you take that guy out and the other 10 of us will play a completely different defense".

I couldn't stand Sanders personally back in those days but that didn't make me ignore his skill.

As for the OP. Frankly, PP has not demonstrated ANY "wiggle" which usually is the hallmark of a great NFL return man. So, we shall see as far as returns go.

As far as CB skills. He brings to the table very similar tools to previous great CBs including Sanders. BUT, until I see them on display in the NFL, I think we should probably hold off on the insane talk.

Duke your knowledge of counterfacutals is truly amazing

How do you know how good Deion as a junior in college would have done vs Julio? The U had 254 yds passing against Deion /FSU in '87 (when Deion was a Jr). For the record, Bama had 223 yds last year against us. It would be intersting to see how Deion would have matched-up against a physical receiver like Julio.

Trying to compare one who's already in the NFL HoF with someone who hasn't even started their NFL career is comparing apples-n-oranges.

But it wouldn't be that unfair to compare Deion's college career w/ PP's and at the same point in their respective careers PP is a more complete football player than Deion.

We already know that you have no clue what you're talking about with the first part of this post. However, bringing up "turf toe" as if it's some minute injury really shows your ignorance.

Since you were born in 1983, you were 6 years old when Sanders was drafted by the NFL. You didn't see Sanders play in college.

1. Deion Sanders was never a good tackler. This isn't really even debatable.

2. He was never in consideration as a possible #1 pick like Peterson.

3. He played for Dallas Cowboys a team that is specifically known for hyping their players, like no other team in the NFL. Had he gone to the Cleveland Browns after Atlanta, he would be remembered as a "Pretty good cornerback". But he played for America's Team

Would you buy a book: Power, Money & Sex: How Success Almost Ruined My Life , from an aging Cleveland Brown's cornerback?

Hell, I'd love to see Peterson with a big star on his helmet. LINK

You guys taking about Peterson being better because sanders wasn't a great tackler are retarded.

That's like saying Albert Pujols isn't a great player because he doesn't steal enough bases

Plus, for all of your raving about petersons tackling prowess, you realize he averaged a whopping 3 tackles a game while at LSU? And Deion averaged 2.6 tackles a game in the NFL.

Big frickin deal. IF Deion whiffs on one of those 3 opportunities a game he gets to tackle a RB, he still is shutting down the opposing teams top WR while also leading the NFL in punt return yards and kickoff return yards as a rookie

No they aren't. The reason every major publication that puts together a list and has Woodson above Deion (not saying they all do, but those that do) on the all time list of CBs looks at Deion's tackling ability, awesome hitting power, and # of games played when saying Woodson is better. Thus saying PP7 looks better coming out of college than did Sanders isn't much of a stretch.

PP7 actually had 3.46T/gm. Which is actually more than I would have thought, I mean hardly anyone threw to him, and when they did, much like the DS DS'ers have fapped about with him, the passes were broken up.
