Henry’s 10 championships with the Aggies paired with the 27 he accumulated at LSU made him the first coach in NCAA history with double-digit national titles at two separate schools in any sport.

That's all the Aggies got out of him in 22 years. Man they suck

Seems like that guy left LSU 30 or 40 years ago.
I remember when his assistant at LSU got in trouble for having an “all night counseling session” with one of his athletes

He was the most dominant coach in LSU history regardless of era.

I think that the argument can be made that he was one of the most dominant coaches on all of sports regardless of the level.

I was such an LSU nut as a kid. Pat left on my birthday while we were at the beach. Dad mentioned Henry left in the USA Today paper and I thought he was fricking with me

Skip not investing in Pat is one of the biggest blunders in the school’s history. We’d probably have 70+ national titles had he stayed.

And you would have been able to recruit more dual sport football players too

He left on Skip's watch if memory serves me right. Story was that he had been unhappy with Skip over lack of funding & when he won his last N.C. Skip didn't come down to his office to compliment him till almost a week had gone by. Bye bye Pat.

There has always been a ton of speculation surrounding Pat Henry leaving. The logical explanation was wanting the university to finally give the program the facilities it deserves, and Skip wouldn’t lift a finger. Some say he always wanted to eventually coach at a Texas program for recruiting, but it’s hard to believe he would have left if we gave him the resources Texas A&M eventually did.

Always rumors of Skip having a bit of an ego trip when it came to Henry. I just don’t think Skip saw the financial return in supporting the program which is pretty short sighted…love Skip as a coach but have never been a fan of his AD tenure.

Loren Seagrave I believe. He was the head womens coach and was at LSU before Henry came. Seagrave was an assholes but played a big part in building the women's program. He actually ended up marrying that athlete he was counseling.

Wow. I did not know that. If I recall correctly, he actually sued LSU over being fired for it.

John McDonnellhad 40 titles at Arkansas when he retired.
He took me s titles and Pat took Women’s in dominating fashion in the 90’s.
That 10 in a row for Pat in Outdoors was pretty special.

Skip also left the basketball programs in horrible shape. I have sauce from that era that said Brady was very hands off after the Final 4, but I don’t think you fire him unless you have a promising name lined up.

Understood firing Pokey but could have hired Dawn Staley or frankly any other coach besides the guy living on the golf course

Great human and coach but between him and Ray Tanner the head coach to AD experiment should be retired.
