I played soccer with that assistant and he was a good guy. My memory is that he wasn’t really an assistant, but essentially head women’s coach. I’m not totally sure about the “all night counseling session,” but what I think really happened was a power struggle between two very good coaches, that Henry wanted control of the women’s program, and Henry won.

Rumor had it at that time that he couldn't stand Nick Saban and how he was able to strongarm the Athletic Department and get everything he wanted at all of the others' expense.

I'm with you 100%. Love. Skip is a baseball coach. No doubt about it. One of the best but as an athletic director. Wow! I mean not as bad as some but certainly not as good as most that's for sure

Yes, something in that vein I remember, and he wasn't ever gonna get much sympathy from anyone in that battle, no matter how many track titles he won.
