Reading a few of the threads on here I started thinking that, Hell Yeah, double digit wins is in the bag! However, I think that it will honestly take a full season to see what we can reasonably expect from our teams in the future. I do expect a large jump from game 1 to game 2. I think the coaching staff and the players all being new to each other will be a huge factor. Cohesion within different groups and players overall has been talked about, but cohesion within the coaching staff has been overlooked. Mid game adjustments, audibles, formations/player groups based on down and distance. These are things that new staffs struggle with. When you throw in 40 new players on a roster and 33 that have been there before. That's a lot of moving parts to get on the same page.

The first thing that has to happen is that our coaching staff learn each other in game and at practice before we can really have a good idea of what our teams will be capable of.

It's that time of the year. Everyone has convinced themselves that they're going to win the natty.

Realistically we have a QB that threw 10 TDs and 10 Ints in the Pac 12 last year and looked shaky at best in the spring game with questionable accuracy.

We have a true freshman starting at LT.

Our center is playing that position for the first time ever.

We don't have a passing game TE.

We don't have any depth at DB and frankly no proven guys. Not saying they're bad but it looks like our starting Corners are going to be transfers from Mcneese and Oklahoma State.

Our kicker is a complete unknown.

BK has had to patch this roster together with duct tape and gum.

We're better than I thought we were but I really thought Myles was going to take the next step and be a 4k passer.

We need JD to be above average. He can't be anywhere close to how bad he was last year in the SEC.

I think we're an 8 win team and anything above that should be seen as a massive win for BK. 6-6 is a failure to me and will always be a failure at LSU to me.

I'm going to get downvoted into oblivion by the guys that think we're going to win 10 games and that JD is the next RG3, but those will be the same dudes in 4 months going "who really thought we were going to win 7 games???"

Idk, the freshman was a 5 star that beat out a junior that started last year.

I'll give you the center, I'm pretty worried about his snapping causing some problems.

We have a couple good options at TE (both Taylors) and we have the athletes to run 5 wide if need be. This is a non issue IMO

We have tons of depth at db Safety especially, I'm not that worried here especially with the front 7 we have.

field goal kicking, yes I think we may stink here. Might cost us a game.

Idk, We could have a good team here.

Outside of the WR and DL the rest of the units are unproven. Could be a great season, could be a long season. I've been around long enough to be skeptical of camp hype.

This is really the least of things to worry about.

This!!!

I think we absolutely have talent and I think we will have a great scheme. These guys may have a system that is easily teachable and we could get hot and really shake things up this season.

We could also go the other direction and that wouldn't be a shock to many people either. It's such a fine line that we will have to walk and there are a ton of factors that could swing either way.

Expectation is the catalyst towards all disappointment. With that said I will stick with anything over 8 wins is amazing and under 7 will be disappointing

Sorry, 8 months is enough time to "get to know one another".
Anything less than 7 wins is totally unacceptable. Next coach up!!

Nobody should be thinking this until we get to October.

I very much disagree, but please elaborate on this? One or two new coaches is one thing, any entire staff minus one guy who has only been here for a year is another IMO

Because coaches at this level are hired for their ability to be extremely efficient, focused and prepared. CBK is particularly known for running an efficient staff. Go listen to Sherman Wilson's interview on Cullotta as he discusses this very topic. Everyone on staff knows their specific role/tasks and focus only on what they are responsible for (as anything else consumes unnecessary time and energy). Cohesion and synergy are natural byproducts of that. Successful game management is born from preparation along those same lines. In game, everyone has a specific role they focus on and stay in their lane as rehearsed during camp and practices.

We have a much better team than the last two years and a much better coaching staff. There's reason to be optimistic.

I am fairly confident CBK will have the coaches and team as prepared as much as possible. I just want to know if we have some great leaders on the team.

Hard to argue that. Maybe I am just thinking too much on this one. Thanks

Relevant concerns. But you have the right guy for the job and the job he and Polian did with the portal should be up there with the Halloween run.

Should be a fun season.

It's easy to think like that after the last few years, but CBK runs a well-oiled machine. It's different than what we're used to.

I'm with you on the staff but don't forget we had 10 players drafted from last year's team. 3 on the OL. We also lost Ricks who Def has draftable talent and McGlothern who also very well could explode given an opportunity and get drafted. Where did we upgrade? That's not meant to sarcastic its an honest question. Did we upgrade at RB when we lost Kiner and brought in Cain/Emery became eligible? Possibly. But the CB's we brought in while promising - I mean Jerrick Bernard Converse was all big 12 but why is he transferring his 5th year rather than getting drafted? I just wonder where we upgraded talent wise over last season.

Or, maybe everything will just click. Ya never know. I can count on Jimbo underachieving (again) at A&M. Auburn's a mess. Lane Kiffin gets figured out everywhere he goes. State's a punchline. We'll probably upset Alabama and then get upset by Arkansas.
