The only way Jumbo would consider it is if King and Alleva are fired. I know this is the rant and we rant on here, but the idea of that actually happening (those 2 losing their job) is like 1 in 100! I wish it worked that way, but it doesnt!

Kiffin is a complete fricking disaster and anyone who wants him is blinded by the jazz hands and sparklers. I don't want someone with no character running LSU's football program.

It's Fisher (frick you F King), Herman, Aranda.

Get that Kiffin and Briles shite the hell out of here.

Were Kiffin and Orgeron on staff together at USC? Would you be OK if Orgeron was promoted to head coach, kept Aranda as DC and brought Kiffin in as OC?

yes, "were a coordinator..." FIFY

And I cant think of one great HC that did not spend years getting to where they are now. I really like Aranda and he has a great future but he has not spent a day running the show... For LSU that is about $125 mil gross revenues.

I agree with what Marcus Spears said last year when I thought Miles was finally out the door and everyone kept saying "Who are you gonna hire if you get rid of him?".. Spears made the point that if you're in a bad marriage, you don't stay in it until you find someone else to marry (well, most people don't).. You get the **** out, then you move on... Same philosophy applies to finding a HC in my opinion.

So what you are saying is, it's ok to wait a few years to get a new head coach? I mean you don't rush out after the divorce is signed and find you a great wife in a few weeks, so you wait until that right one comes along....... Right? It was stupid when he said it and just a stupid now that you are posting it. It's not like a divorce at all!

Go back to the criteria LSU used to hire Saban and later Miles.

- "Power 5" experience (it was 6 BCS conferences back then)
- Able to recruit despite being the 2nd school in a state (MSU / OkSt)
- Major wins in pressure situation

What kinds of names come up on this list?

- David Shaw (Stanford / Pac 10) -- Unlikely to leave
- Pat Fitzgerald (Northwestern / Big 10) -- Unlikely to leave
- Mike Gundy (Okie State / Big 12) -- Unlikely to leave
- Gary Patterson (TCU / Big 12) -- Has looked elsewhere

That's a fairly small list. Besides those names, you have to start getting creative: NFL head coaches (HIGHLY unlikely) ; NFL coordinators (more likely but higher risk of failure / departure) ; or, perhaps worse, failed NFL head coaches now working as coordinators.

So, if Herman or Jimbo Fisher fall through, LSU is looking at a small list of names ... and it gets really sketchy if they fail to sway one of those names above to join.

... but there's one other name to keep in mind. Last year, at least around these parts, there was real speculation that Chip Kelly had put out feelers to LSU.

Chip Kelly was a highly successful college coach with some NFL success. I said this last year and I'll say this now: Chip Kelly to LSU would be a massive coup for the program.

I get the point he is trying to make but unlike a marriage you aren't required to marry someone in the next three months.

This isn't a marriage or a relationship it's college football.

1st, i'd throw ALL the money at Herman... make him say no...
2nd, if he does, go after Gary Patterson and bring Briles as OC
3rd, if neither of them come, go after Cristobal

I know it's a pipe dream, but I'd love to be able to get Jim Tressel away from Youngstown State.

He isn't even coaching football. He's the University president.

After last years total F-up of the coaching situation, and Jimbo then signing a new contract. I would be surprised if his buy out would be to much to absorb
