re: Outside of Herman, who are other real and potential HC Candidates?

To me, if Les Miles goes, the obvious choice is promote from within, and that promotion belongs to Dave Aranda. He's only been LSU's DC for one game thus far, but if the defense plays strong all season, he deserves the job. Trust me guys, he won't be our DC for long unless he's promoted to HC. Aranda has been climbing the ladder the last few years, rising up the ranks of college football. He has paid his dues, and the next stop for him is a head coaching job. If he succeeds at LSU as DC, other teams will be salivating over the prospect of him as their head coach. Aranda would be my first choice to replace Les.

Too soon for Frank Wilson?

Why would Dabo come here. Much easier to win a nc out the ACC

He got fired for a reason, and its the kind of reason you don't overlook

Because he's not a scared bitch?

I really believe Kiffin has made a change for the better and matured. Think his second go around as an HC will be much better. I think he would recruit well and runs a great offense.

Aranda if he has a good season
Posted on 9/5/16 at 3:53 pm to SaintlyTiger88
I would be very uneasy about Aranda. But I'd be okay with it if he got a great OC too.

Lol yeah because the SEC is murderer's row.

This is the scary thing.
I honestly feel like Miles is one of the worst game day coaches in FBS. I honestly do. So, as long as the next coach can manage to keep recruiting, or hire someone that does, it can't be worse in my mind

The more I think about it. I'd take just about anybody over Miles at this point.

We will not get herman. He is staying in UH. I promise you this.
FEDORA
KIFFIN
PATTERSON
BRILES.

Yes.
Kiffin is out of the question. Fedora would be there and would take the job if we offered. Jim Mora? Doubt it would happen. The Texas OC looked great last night, but it's one game and he still hasn't proved much, and we won't hire a coordinator without any head coaching experience.

just depends on what happens at other universities. we need texas and texas a&m to have winning seasons and keep their coach. we don't want a bidding war for Herman against universities with more money , especially texas with unlimited cash flow.

I'm not very high on coaches who recently lost to Kevin Sumlin and Texas A&M.
And by the way, despite the majority of his coaching tenure in the Pac-12 being devoid of Pete Carroll, Jim Harbaugh, and Chip Kelly...he has never lost less than 3 conference games in an individual season.

Hopefully he has learned since then and gotten some good influence from saban.
You don't fre a 8-10 win coach for hopefully
I don't think he has changed anything.
His personal life is a fricking mess
He used to call touchdowns remember that?
He is still an arrogant a-hole. He is jsut good at running an offense. Especially when he has early 2000's level USC or current Bama level talent.

Yes, it is.
If you think it's bad losing 3-4 games a year, it could easily go to 6-7 games very quickly.

That's fine. Most people do.

Still don't understand why people think this is a foregone conclusion. We're going to lose a lot of guys to the draft after this season. A coaching change will obviously not help our recruiting class. If the new coach goes 6-6 or 7-5 next year, how hard will it be to bring in a top 10 class the following year? Can't ever tell, but I'd imagine a lot harder than it is right now.
If we were going to fire Miles, last year was the time to do it. I'm not saying we shouldn't after this year, but obviously the longer we wait, the longer it might take to turn it around. Especially if we can't land a great replacement. And yes, that is a scary thought.

Aside from the fact that he will likely be Alabama's number one pick once Saban calls it quits...why would he leave Clemson for LSU at this point?
He has built Clemson into a national powerhouse and he is routinely in contention for the ACC Conference Championship. Florida State is the only program that is currently on par with them in terms of resources, talent, and coaching in the ACC. Why leave for a conference loaded with phenomenal coaches and programs?
He brings in top-flight talent and is in relative proximity to two talent rich recruiting regions (Atlanta metro and northern Florida).
As much as it pains me to say, at THIS point in time LSU would be essentially a lateral move for Swinney.
