Goodbye Aranda

Posted by HeadCoach23 on 11/26/16 at 10:32 am
Thanks for a great year. Good luck at Texas.
This is an embarrassing move. LSU is not a top tier program anymore as seen by the actions of the administration. They didn't want to spend good money on an up and coming coach, and instead buy out the contract of Les Miles to hire the defensive line coach? LSU wiol be lucky to 8-4 from now on.
Assuming Tom Herman is UT's next head coach; my guess is Herman would call up his old college roommate to come be his DC. Really hope I am wrong, but it seems logical.

Did you guys see this? Should've known this was coming.

The UT officials to Houston talk are completely false. See link.

Geoff Ketchum-owner of orangebloods.com(Rivals No.1 site) tweets that a high level UT source has told him that Herman has inked the deal with LSU.

Valid Point I must say.

Les Better Get a Grip on Harris

Posted by HeadCoach23 on 9/13/16 at 3:01 pm
Les has continually defended Brandon Harris, although Harris has played well below average at the QB position. Now, Harris gets on Twitter and tweets out to Tyron Johnson that he made the right decision to transfer? Not good for LSU. What a slap in the face to Les Miles. In my opinion, it shows that Brandon Harris has no respect for Les Miles. It makes me wonder how many other players really respect him. I know he's a players coach and that they like him, but there's a big difference between liking a coach and having respect for a coach. It is going to be interesting to see how Les handles this one.

Jimbo Fisher's Weekly QB Test

Posted by HeadCoach23 on 9/8/16 at 9:58 pm
Did anyone see episode 1 of "A Season With" Florida State Football on Showtime? It was really good and one thing in particular that I took notice of was Jimbo's weekly QB test that he gives to each QB on the roster. It has questions around the defense they're facing that week(best player to watch for, coverages in certain situations, etc). It's of no surprise why Deandre Francois performed well against Ole Miss in his first start. It's the things like this that we know Miles isn't doing with LSU that separate good teams from great teams. You can't be a national contender on talent alone in college football. It's all apart of the process that real coaches understand. It's about being as prepared as you can be. Something that LSU doesn't do that is a direct reflection of their head coach Les Miles.
Tom Herman has proved that he is a great recruiter, and specifically exceptional at recruiting the Houston area and other parts of Texas. If anyone watched the OU/UH game Saturday, then you saw that Ed Oliver dominated the line of scrimmage as a true freshman. Herman got Oliver(#5 OVR PLAYER 2016 Class) to stay in Houston. This is the main reason why LSU needs to make a serious run at Tom Herman. He would be able to dominate I-10 from Houston to New Orleans in recruiting. Couple that with his explosive spread offense and coaching philosophy of "following the process", and you have one scary program in Baton Rouge again.
A 5* RB recruit is bottom level SEC? Their defense is more athletic and physical than you're giving them credit for. Will be a close game.

re: Fournette as QB

Actually not a bad option. Can't be much worse than Harris.
Don't forget Trey Quinn as well. He had to have seen that change was not coming. Hope they both ball at SMU and Oklahoma State.
I've seen a few people calling JSU a cupcake team and an easy win for LSU. I'm here to tell you otherwise. JSU's QB is the reigning conference POY(albeit FCS). Their RB(Auburn transfer) was a 5 star recruit in 2014 with only 2 guys ranked ahead of him; one named Leonard Fournette. They have the pre-season conference DPOY. Where LSU is at this point, I really hope they show up to play, because if not, they may be losing their home opener. Anyone else have information, thoughts, insight on JSU?
I know there are people who will say there is no way LSU will lose to Jacksonville St, but I think there is a real possibility should LSU play the way they did Saturday. I believe JSU is filled with ex SEC, ACC guys and are pretty talented as a team. Even though Auburn was bad last year, they gave them a run for their money at Jordan Hare losing 27-20, and beat Ole Miss in Oxford a few years ago. So, I ask....what happens to Miles if LSU is 0-2 after this weekend?
Not that it's a big deal or any surprise, but I have been told that Scott will transfer if he's not given a chance this year.
I agree, an Urban Meyer type of offense would be perfect at LSU. Another reason why I'm salivating over Tom Herman. Went through 3 different QB's and won the NC. Just think what Fournette could do with those type of running lanes.
Baylor's offense is nothing like the Seattle Seahawks.
I agree. I'm just sick of hearing people call LSU's offense "pro style", because it doesn't resemble anything close to a pro style.
