Does anyone know if an out of state student can receive in state tuition if his or her ACT score is 28 and above? I know Mississippi State does, but this may only apply to boarder states.

I don't know about that, but your girlfriend gets to go to Alabama for free if you're the top player in the state of Louisiana and you are rolling with the Tide.

If you find out, let me know. Out of state is a bitch!

No. There are othe scholarships out there though. You or your kid needs to talk to the counselor at their school. That is what they are there for. Youd be surprised at the scholarships available.

Some schools do waive oos if major isnt offered at ur in state school. Cant recall what it is called but the options are out there and i know LSU participated in it in the past. Say like none of ur instate schools offer petroleum engineering, well lsu does.

When I came in two years ago, a 28 got instate tuition and a 29+ got tuition fully covered. I got above a 29 the second time I took the ACT and got the golden oaks award (fancy for no tuition except for $1500 a year, which you earn from work study. It could be different now with the budget cuts but hopefully this helps. There's a scholarship page on lsu.edu that may be more helpful to you.

That is lame.
With a 32 in state I was only able to get the work study

Boarder? And you got 28+ on the ACT?

Well I got fricked in 2003 if you got a full ride. I got a 30 on the ACT and about that on the English portion so I had an OOS tuition waiver worth about 21,000 total which went up with tuition rises, didn't have to take the first freshman english because of my english score and got work study.

If you or your parents lived in louisiana in the past five years you can request in state tuition. I moved to missouri in 2008 and my son is attending in the fall and we were granted in state tuition. Hopefully this helps.

"boarder states"...is this the state of mind one is experiencing while attending boarding school in an adjacent state ?

Actually Chris Farley, this is for my son who got a 28 as a Freshman in high school. And yes, I caught the boarder after I posted. I know the correct spelling......word and spelling....border. But, thanks for pointing that out. What did you get on your ACT? Or did you even finish high school?

Yes.
And if the student can get an on campus job they can get instate tuition. I know for a fact that is what is happening with students from Texas.
